I'm wondering if anybody else uses the silverhelms as a core choice instead of a special choice, would it be that bad to make up for GW's bobo and just use them as a core selectino so cav armies are still good to use, just wondering what dakka thinks

I think it'd be fine. All cavalry armes were problematic to say the least in 7th ed, which is why cavalry got moved out of core in most books at that time.

Under 8th ed rules, now cavalry can't just pile into the front of an enemy unit and route it regularly, the old issues with all cavalry lists are gone. If anything all cav is generall a difficult to play, somewhat underpowered list.

I suspect SIlver Helms will move back into Core in the next High Elf book. And if houseruling it now means we see some Silver Helms back on the field now that'd be nice.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

Silver helms are barely taken anyways right now, they could certainly be a tad more attractive if put into core. But thats only a bit, Dragon Princes are just like them on steroids

ya that was my thoughts, why not just spend nine points for better armor and attack, plus all the other good stuff you can do with dp's, but i don't play eigth edition rules, the guys i play with have morphed mostly sixth edition rules, with touchs from seven and eigth where we think were good changes
so all cav is still good
