While chatting with my battle buudy over a beer about these new rules, a funny thought came to us: would GW be thinking of making some non-Imperial scenery anytime soon? Can't really see Tau taking a Fortress of Redemption or Nids with an Aegis Defense Line...

While I would love to see dedicated Eldar terrain pieces, I doubt we'll be that lucky. Looking at the releases for Fantasy Battle, I don't see anything other than Empire/ Arcane motifs.

If they did release a Tau fortification or some type of Eldar tower, I'm thinking it would likely be alongside the appropriate codex. Then again they could make a summer of fortifications too.

It would be nice. I have tried a couple of things for xeno scenery, but they didn't pan out... damn these mittens for hands!

It would be a good change from SKULLS EVERYWHERE! Maybe the eldar use flowers?

It would probably sell. Especially Eldar webway gates and the like.

I'd buy some for sure.

Eldar webway gates. Necron Pylon's and Obelisks. Big chaos icons.

Gorkamorka style ork villages would be amazing. Or they could just rerelease GM and make me even happier!

I'm sorry to single you out, but I don't understand why people will use apostrophes for some plurals and not for others. I mean, apostrophes aren't for plurals at all anyway, but it's confusing when someone gets it wrong with one word and right with the next.

Does anyone have any idea how well the Ork barricades sold? Between those and the Ork Stompa you could easily make Aegis Defense Lines or a Bastion. Then again, Orks don't really need dedicated terrain since they can loot other building kits so easily. Forgeworld could definitely come through on this, but they're not doing scenery much these days unfortunately.

I think the Tau would really benefit from some alternative scenery, similar to the custom pieces in the 5E BGB. They have a great asthetic, and I'd love to include some commercial-quality scenery like it on my tabletop.

I agree with what most people are saying: it would be cool to see some more xeno terrain pieces being produced. However, there are actually some interesting alternatives out there, including commissioning bespoke models. Plus there's a wealth of websites offering tutorials on making your own (for those with the gumption)!

Am at work at the moment, so when I get home I'll have to see what links I can post here for those who are interested...

Personally I loved the idea of statted fortifications. My friends and I are in the process of making a grand campaign in which point pools are amassed depending on places held and facilities built, something like Risk meets Dawn of War... And one of the point pools we wanted to have was fortifications so we could *build* our own fortifications for our armies and cart them along as need be, or use them to defend key cities.

What we wanted to do was outside of the large-scale campaign and in normal games was have a points system where each army can *buy* terrain and fortifications and place it wherever they want on the board in their areas. Bunkers, Trenches, Aegis lines, Sniper towers, Heavy weapons nests, etc. for IG but then you get the "Weird" races like 'Nids with Spore chimneys, spawning pools, gas clouds, etc.

We just thought it'd be fun to have additional things like that and maybe tack on some extra rules for them. IG can move through their own trenches without getting mixed up at normal speed AND get a hard cover save where all other races move as in difficult terrain because they don't know the way. Or 'Nid spawning pools count as dangerous terrain for others because anyone moving over them might suddenly have a newborn Gaunt reach up and "SCRREEEEEE!!!!!!!" pull them into the pool.

Take from it what you will.

FW has put out a bunch of terrain, I was hoping that some of that would be changed to 'fortification' instead of what ever they are now. would love to be alloweed to legally deploy taratulas and tau sentry towers in games. Currently we just house rule it here, but in tournaments it's really up to the TO.
