Played Dreamer for a while, yes I know, Boo Hiss, but I think I want to build Kaeris and M&Su now. Any ideas for a 25 SS crew? I have the first stat book and rising powers but I havent gotten the new one so I may be missing a few profiles for M&Su.

n0t_u: No, but six can shoot out of it. Other than that it's a Rhino with a Heavy Flamer thrown on if I remember correctly.

Run Rasputina as your master. Run Kaeris as a henchmen. Use a Silent One to give Kaeris the Icy Heart ability. Have fun with absurd amounts of Fire&Ice area denial.

Regarding Kaeris, I do own her boxed set although I haven't played it yet (never mind prepping them for painting ...). Kaeris is a Arcanist Henchman, and Henchmen have certain hiring restrictions that Masters do not. IIRC, Kaeris can only hire MSU members and MSU assets (and the Fire Gamin). This isn't to say that a Kaeris-led crew cannot be effective, but you will have a smaller selection of models that you can legally hire (pretty much the box set plus a few other models) as compared to a Master (like Ramos, Rasputina, Marcus, or Collete).

Right now she can hire:
Joss [9ss]
Renegade Steamfitter Johan [6ss]
Gunsmith [6ss]
Soulstone Miner [6ss]
Large Steampunk Arachnid [5ss]
Fire Gamin [4ss]
Union Miner [4ss] (From Book Three: Twisting Fates.)
Edit#1: Iggy, a fire-themed Neverborn Outcast who has Affinity(Kaeris), also from Book Three.

Of the above, I have used Johan, Gunsmiths, and the LSA although with Ramos or Rasputina, not Kaeris. Gunsmiths are both useful and versatile figures, and Johan is a tough all-rounder but is slightly better in melee. Johan does get a +2 Cb when within 3” of another friendly M&SU Member. The LSA has been lackluster: it's simply not as durable as other Arcanists constructs.

Since I have not fielded any of the other figures yet, I won't comment. Visiting the wiki should give you pointers on most of those units.

You could always take Kaeris with another Arcanist Master, thus you can get around her hiring restrictions. My suggestion would be Ramos, as Kaeris is a soulstone junkie and Ramos isn't, so she can burn them without hurting his effectiveness.

I play a kaeris crew, and can tell you what i use, but as always, ymmv, moreso in malifaux than other games. (malifaux has such a comparitively large amount of tactical complexity that i've found what you bring isn't as important as how you use what you bring)

first up, 4x fire gamin. They have solid attack, pass out burning tokens, and cause most crews to avoid catching them in melee do to their tendancy to blow up on death)

Next off, take iggy. just do it. same concept as the gamin, but even heavier hitting, albeit more expensive.

Always save Kaeris to act last, unless the strategy/scheme demands otherwise. The rest of your crew will be passing out burning tokens left and right, and most of kaeris' abilities really screw over models with burning tokens. Once she activates, use accelerant. Use it often. cheat, soulstone, do whatever you have to do. If you're playing well, by the time she activates the enemies will have lots of burning tokens, and accelerant is built to screw over models with burning tokens, either causing them to take damage, or become paralyzed.

last but not least,

Kaeris has some nifty card manipulation abilities, but overall, she's a fast, flying, fragile flame flinger. I've found that with Kaeris, you either play super aggresive or you don't win.
