We all know the story of Gazghkull Thraka. Ork has dream, Ork startes WAAAGH!!!!
Ork turns out to be a great tactition, Ork gets beat, Ork tries again.
But what do you think?
Where these dreams brought on by the surgery he went through (the same surgery that made Mad Dok Grotsnik famous).
Was he just bored (and/or mad).
Or was he realy the prophet of ' DA GODS'?
Stay silent and you all will die, or answer me and only most of you will die!!!

Orks aren't really into lying and making up stuff for 'te luls'
So ghaz would just lead a waaagh coz he is biggest an strongest. If he says he is, he has no reason to lie about it. He is the most successful warboss, whether he is the prophet or not

I've always thought of Ghazghkull's religious "visions" as a publicity stunt.
If a fledgling Waaagh is to draw the attention of different clans, warbands and freebooterz, it needs victories, a sizeable enemy reaction, and a charismatic warlord behind the wheel. I wouldn't be surprised if some warlords decided to add a religious or ideological rationale to the mix.

Does it matter? He's the boss, that's all there is to it.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.
'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.' |

I thought (and unfortunately, I can't find this information anywhere to provide you with the quote), that GW fluff suggested that not only did Ghaz "seem a bit different" after that bolter round to the bonce (and the subsequent "serjery" from Grotsnik, but that the visions he received were actually induced from the Eldar (indeed, from Eldrad himself), in order to either blunt the expansion of the humans, or at least, redirect orkish conquest away from Eldar holdings (and incidentally, toward human holdings).
I might be misremembering that, or remembering some fan fiction as GW fluff, but I have definite, if not reliable, memories of reading that.

No, its right it says so in the Eldrad Uthuin (or what ever his name is) entry, in the Codex:eldar.
But that still dosen't explain why Ghazghkull was such a good tacticion (even by Imperial standards).

Smart Ork Bosses happen, they're rare (but apparently, every IG book from the Black Library features one of those smart boys, go figure).

The bigger orks get stronger, I heard somewhere that they get more cunning too. All orks look to be 'Da strongest and da most kunnin'" So maybe he's just such a good tactician because he's the strongest.
Possibly due to the orks' latent psychic field, the stronger the power of the Waaaagh! the stronger the effects of, what is basically, the combined orkish imagination power. Maybe Ghaz is such a good tactician because the huge gellar field surrounding him makes him that good, just because he and his 'boyz' believe he is.
I subscribe to the second theory.

Not to mention those black library books apparently made it possible for non Orks to use Ork shootas. Even though until this happened, Ork weapons simply didnt work out of the hands of Orks

Well, FFG followed this, to an extent. Orkish weapons are unreliable in non-ork hands, but those same weapons are just as dependable as common-quality Imperial weapons (for Imperials0 when used by Orks. A nice fudge of the issue, I thought.

Well Ghaz pretty much achieved what he was trying to do. He had a vision of creating a paradise for orks and effectively succeeded. Armageddon is in a state of permanent war with the orks. The planet itself is too important for the imperial forces to give up so they keep it reinforced and the defenses strong. While for orks it is known as a place where they can go for a good fight, so the number of new orks arriving is constant too. Effectively this is the ork equivalent of paradise, constant endless fighting, never truly loosing or winning.
After achieving the ork paradise he seemed to just do what all other warbosses do, and go and look for something else to krump.

Much like everything else about the Orks what matters is what they believe. because it seems that whatever the Orks believe is made real. So a large number of Orks seem to believe Ghaz is the prophet of Gork and Mork...so Ghaz is a prophet of Gork and Mork.
