If an independent character in power armor is with a unit of terminators would he be able to sweep? I say yes as the terminators armor only affects that model and the rules for sweeping advance do not seem clear.

I would say no, as the independent character has to stay with his unit during the shooting and assault phase, and since the terminators can't sweeping advance.
also, since he is considered part of the unit (except for rules governing combat), either the entire unit sweeps or neither does
