Subject: Possible Tau Allies in 6th?

So I got my hand on a 6th edition book finally and I was reading the fluff in the back on tau and I noticed a very intersting passage.
"There are many races, wether conquered or coerced, which have come to accept and fully adopt the message of the Greater Good, the philosophy that the Tau live by. Many, such as the Ranghons, Nicassar and Morralians, have already bowed before the Tau Empire, with aliens like the carnivorous Kroot and the insectiod Vespid even sending their own troops to act as auxiliaries to further Tau expansions."
Now I know who the Nicassar are, but further research into the other two turns up nothing that I can find. The Morralians are apparently mentioned once before as allies, but have no background or picture. As for Ranghons this is apparently the first time ever they have been mentioned according to my research. So since they took the time to list these few races, what do you think the odds of them turning up in the next codex will be? Also note that Demiurg were absent from the fluff section in the 6th edition book.

There's been mention of the Morralians as allies in the past:

No Demirug is probably a deliberate attempt by GW to sweep them under the rug, as to further destroy any legacy of the Squats

Don't know the odds, but I sure am hoping that the Nicassar turn up for some psychic support in the new rulebook. Being able to give my Fire Warriors rerolls to hit or BS3 Overwatch (or whatever other abilities are in 6th edition), without having to ally with the Eldar or smurfs would be pretty awesome.

So I got my hand on a 6th edition
Did you notice the parallels between the artwork on pg 198 and a certain drawing from past editions, Tarellian dog-soldier and nocturnal warrior of Hrud included?
Oh my god, what did I just say

Wow I missed these, there quite a few I don't recognize their name. Unfortunately the Dog Soldier isn't in Tau style armor or I would of been a lot happier.

Since you have your hands on a rulebook, could you please answer one question?
Are the Space Marines now charged with protecting the Tau?
I have asked, and even started my own thread, but it has devolved into a debate about what the word "Ally" means.
Please, for the love of the Emperor, would you please tell me if this little Fluff change has been put into the book?

I can still remember when a box of 30 Space Marines was $30.00. Now THAT'S old school! In fact, I started playing in the Rogue Trader days...yes, I am that old. Played Warhammer Fantasy for years before Rogue Trader even came out...

Didn't have time to thoroughly check the fluff section, but I gave the Tau part a quick read, looking for that exact rumored fluff change.
In short: No. The Tau remain just as they were in 5th. The story from Codex: Space Marines in which Ultras allow the Tau to evacuate a world before executing exterminatus has made it into the main timeline, though.
That said, I had the big book in my hands no longer than ten minutes. Maybe the dreaded fluff change it's still there, hidden somewhere. Tomorrow we'll know for certain.

Good news. Such a change won't have kept me from playing, but i suspected the whole story to be a trollish fabrication designed to roll Tau, Ultramarine and Ward hate into one. Bad thing so many folks fell for it.

Good point. It would have been too much for me, but I am a Fluffy Nutter!
I'm sure that Matt Ward is a good guy. His rules for Blood Angels were actually not that bad. They have some real game changers in there, but not unbeatable. In the end, some of the stuff was a little strange, but it still worked in the greater scheme of things. His Fluff, however...some of his ideas were just too much.
The Grey Knights were a disaster. Their rules were WAY to extreme for me, and the Fluff was terrible. I know that 40K has NEVER been balanced, but come on. It was so over the top, that it ruined 5th Edition.
Let's hope that Ward has heard some of the nerdrage, and is going to tone it down a bit. You do not have to write extreme Fluff. Just write GOOD Fluff. The fans will take it from there.
For example, instead od having a certain Grand Master carve something into a Deamon Primarch's heart, just have him destroy a Greater Deamon. Not banish it back to the Warp. But, destroy it. Completely. As in tear apart it's essence. Forever. That would have been damn cool, and still fit within the spirit of the background.

It's not impossible. As I recall in the Last Chancer novel Kill Team they mention Tarellian Dog-soldiers and Hrud interacting with (possibly as allies of, mercenaries for, or even protectorates of) the Tau. It could be referencing that.

What about the marine fluff?
It could be hidden somewhere in there.
