Now obviously this is assuming that the CC rules are correct in their changes. But do TH/SS terminators now become less of a need in droves?
Do you think that the standard SB/PF terminators is now going to be a good choice. I mean taking 1 or 2 guys in the squad with TH/SS allows you to ward off lascannon blasts or perhaps those melta weapons. But with PW only being AP3 in combat you will now get your 2+ save in combat. Since a thunder hammer and a PF are essentially the same thing would it make more sense to have the SB for some ranged capability on all the squads now? Perhaps keep a single squad of TH/SS terminators simply for dealing with other terminators squads with fists but other than that there isn't much worry is there?
I am thinking this squad make up might be more effective with those changes:
TH/SS x2
SB/PF x2
LC x1 or SB/CF or PF
Now I know they are still vulnerable to torrent fire but that was the case prior anyways. Put the TH/SS in the front since that is how wound allocation will be done allowing you make the saves on them. Put your Cyclone in the back on the LC since he cannot shoot otherwise.
Just some ideas what do you think? And yes I know we will not know for sure until the rule book comes out but since these seem to be confirmed changes curious what you fellow DA players might think.
No. The real danger to terminators will remain the ubiquitous AP2 barrage from plasma guns. Terminator without storm shields will still die too easily to justify their points cost.
Red Hunters: 2000 points Grey Knights: 2000 points Black Legion: 600 points and counting
I hadn't thought of that perhaps because I do not play against much plasma however that does bring up the fact of Eldar with all their damn lances so I guess I will be keeping my TH/SS termies! Good cus I was really hoping I wouldn't have to work on getting new arms.
Plasma will always be a factor, but with the new wound allocation it won’t be as bad. You can just put one or two SS/TH in the front to absorb the Plasma Hits.
That is going to be disanointing is all of the Cookie Cutter Death Wings out there.
For Shooting

Just stay the course brother however it may be wise to have a unit or two of Lightning Claws available. As these can wipe out MEQs as they strike.

I have 6 unopened boxes of th/ss terminators. I'm wondering if I should wait until DA codex is released and get the new models (if any) or exchange a box or 2 at my store for some sb/pf terminators. Regardless I still have to buy 6 rocket packs.

Best and cheapest way to get the CML is buy imperial guard sentinel missile launchers. That is what I used for my CML if you look at my P&M blog you can see what the finished product looks like after some modifications.
