So, while everyone is totally excited (or not so excited) about all the combos and lists you can run when 2 different factions ally, my question is, can you ally with the same race?

Eldrad, A Farseer and an Autarch/The Avatar as well as extra slots in Elites, Fast Attack and Heavy Support would be lovely.

Not sure, but the FOC expands at 2k points anyway which would be pretty much the same thing.

Its not the same since this way you can cheese it out by cramming two eldrads in a single list LOL.

And who wouldn't love to face 9 Heamonculi in a 1500 point list.

How about 6 SW HQ running around, that would be good too

I'd also think even if you could, you could not field multiple unique characters.

Then why is the first ally on the GW website for the Orks, Commisar Yarrick?

And simple logic says that you can't ally with yourself. The chart shows who can ally... Orks to Orks leads to a blank area on the chart.
