Interesting. Page 37 of the rules details Force weapons. They are no longer power weapons. Rather they inflict instant death for any unsaved wound upon successful activiation. Anyone of the GK codex handy? Are GK weapons defined as both power weapons and force weapons?

Can we kill this before GW's lawyers go mad?
Also can we stave off the rules analysis of the new book til it's released?

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

It's released. It came in the mail.

The GK codex just refers you back to the BRB regarding Force Weapons.
The only exceptions are Daemon hammers (which use the rules for Thunder Hammers) and Doomfists (which are DCCW)

Looks like the GK just got hit with the Nerfhammer big time if this is true.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

We'll see what the updated FAQ says. Otherwise it's a huge nerf on GK. I thought that nemesis weapons were defined as both force and power weapons (have the 6th ed. rulebook with me but not my GK codex :( ).

Even if this is a nerf, GKs still have alot of tools thanks to being a more recent codex.

A force weapon is just a power weapon that can inflict instant death. (Or something like that)

Anyway it's not that worrying, they're still strong.

Are new FAQs going to be released simultaneously with the rules this weekend?

Maybe.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Apparently not, under the new rules.
(Although I'll be interested to read my copy of the BRB when it turns up, to check for sure)

Force Swords are AP 3, Force Axes are AP 2 but unwieldy, Force Staves are AP 4 but concussive and give +2 strength.

Force weapons have their own entry and rules. The worst is AP4, most are AP3 or better.
No issue for GK.

So, changes in line with power weapons in the new edition then.

GK FW are also special force weapons, so dont follow the base AP chart. Meaning they all start at AP3, even the stave.

Is this specifically stated somewhere in the new rules?

If they don't follow the Chart how do they all get AP3, is basically what I am asking.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

They follow the rules for "Unique" force weapons, meaning they are AP3 and follow the rules in their codex.

No, it doesnt. It states they are force weapons with a set of changes.

Page/Quote?

Because page 54 simply says that they are Force weapons as per the BRB; and then proceeds to give the extra rules for activating the power.

According to your statement they do not need to activate the power because they always seem to confer ID.

I guess what I am saying is: You care to back that up?

Thanks for that nos; I was a little confused what with not having the Rulebook yet and your statement seeming slightly sideways.

Page 61, there are rules for "Unusual Power Weapons" but I see no rules for "unique" force weapons. "If a power weapon has its own unique close combat rules, treat it as an AP 3 Melee weapon with the additional rules and characteristics presented in its entry." Unless contradicted by the forthcoming GK FAQ their force weapons are not power weapons.

Look harder, it's right near the Force Weapon entry.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

That already happened.

Twice.

Codex: Daemon Hunters came out in the end of 3rd. Super powerful, mass sales.

4th edition was released, as time went on GK started sliding into "way overpriced"

4th Ed DH FAQ released replacing the Codex "true grit" with the USR; GK Termies suddenly received +1 Attack, and other assorted benefits across the Codex.

5th edition came out; GK were incredibly overpriced.

Given the need for the FAQs to come out to make any sense of specific cases (like GK force weapons) and the general case of force staves/swords/axes being already covered, I'm locking this for now. If the FAQ comes out tomorrow and renders this something other than moot, feel free to PM me to unlock it.
