Subject: Fortress of Redemption Fire Points?
|
 |
Khorne Chosen Marine Riding a Juggernaut
|
Hey,
Query regarding the Fortress of Redemption. Rulebook says this:
Access Points & Fire Points: As per model.
The model seems only to have fire points on the walkway section - classed as a small building - but there are none on the bunker annexes. However, in a previous White Dwarf article, where Phil Kelly discussed the Fortress and shared rules for it in normal games, he says this:
Each bunker annex has six fire points, for twelve in total.
Therefore:
1. How many fire points does the Fortress of Redemption have? Only the walkway fire points? Only the bunker annex fire points? Both?
2. If one was to scratch-build a Fortress, with fire points on all buildings, is this acceptable? (It still complies perfectly with the rulebook's description of the terrain type, as one medium and three small buildings!)
Thanks,
Popsicle

Treat the top/catwalks of the fortress as if you were embarked/standing on top of a bastion. (basically its opentopped if yer on the catwalks).
If you look at the side of the mode there firepoints/slits all along the long wall edge of the catwalk as well

This is not correct the top/cat walk is battlements like such on top of bastion, not counting as being embarked.
I have had the same question, I have emailed gw customer support and when they answer me I will pass that info onto you.
if there isn't one i suggest talking around your local hobby store or just installing your own firing points on the fortress with a drill or saw.

Yes the new battlements rules apply to being on top of the fortress (that said bastions now count the top as being a battlement as well.)
I counted my fortress's fire points. there are 5 doors along the central wall that have vision slits that count as firing points, and 1 door in the back.

There are 6 fire points in the walkways, and I don't think they're doors.

I called games work shop customer services and they told me that as far as firing points go the slits in the doors on the walk way are the only firing points, this is some what unofficial and for the most part what matters is the models you place on top that you will be firing with. Looking back I should have asked which door slits go to which holding point, although I assume its the walkway structure.

Unfortunately GW customer service amounts to less then an ork fart here on dakka. Mostly because you can call three times with the same question and get 4 different answers.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

exactly why I said it is unofficial, it would just be something to go by until an official standard is in place.
