Daring Dark Eldar Raider Rider

All I want to know is why you have chosen the armies you have, as everyone has different opinions about them.

I chose the dark eldar because they were the only ones I saw a truly evil. Sure CSM had daemons, and spike bits, and works just love the killing, but the dark eldar? They are the epitome of evil. To kill you is not enough, they want you to beg for your death, they live for the terrr and pain the bring with each raid, how even to their own kind they wouldn't think twice about killing in the most grusome way possible, that is why I chose the dark eldar. That and the amount of ultra faced paced zooming things flying around

What are your reasons?

Because I've loved Tyranids ever since I got into the game.

I started with the Orks from the 2nd edition starter, but grabbed the Epic Hive War expansion and loved them. I grabbed the 2nd edition codex when it was released, and they were my most coherent army in 2nd.

My lack of money stopped the army in 3rd edition though, and I played Space Marines up until I quit in 4th edition. When I got back into the hobby, I noticed the Tyranid model range not only had improved, but was one of the best model ranges GW has now.

Since I no longer have the problem of no money, I figured a return to my favorite army was in order.

When I first got into the game, all my amigos had pretty much every faction covered except Necrons and Eldar and I didn't want to choose an army one of them already had. Space elves weren't very appealing but the Necrons were just, wow! Sure on the tabletop they weren't great, but the fluff was filled with "bwahahahaha! All tremble before the C'tan and their Necron Slaves!" And I loved it. I also loved the Warscythe, VoD, Nightmare Shroud lord which no longer exists... *grumble grumble grumble...*

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

I started playing Tyranids because they were a vicious, unstoppable swarm, backed by huge monsters.

I started Dark Eldar Because they were a surgical, lightning assault army.

Now I play Warmachine.

Ig because I like playing with tanks. And they're the only army that could bring 9 tl las cannons, 22 melta guns, and 3 large blast templates to the table with. Looks like I'm gonna drop all the vehicles though as 6th seems a bit brutal on transports.

I chose my Templars in the end because i am fascinated by the Knights Templar and The Knights Hospatalier(Now the order of Malta) throughout history, because they may as well have been the space marines of the time, and faith and all that. But in game fluff, i just love the idea of these black armored knights flipping the bird to the codex Astartes, the inquisition and the fact that they operate completely of their own will and the only one higher then themselves in their eyes is Dorn and the Empreor.

Plus the whole madmen in CC and the fact that they would NEVER ally with alien scum .

Nids first:
rediculous amount of *growl slash growl bite growl*.
I played starcraft... guess which faction...

Space puppies because, at the time, nobody played them. They were still super aggressive, but different enough from my nids that I would have to work a little differently.

Just gained Cryx, but that's off topic...

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Background and models. I've always loved the look of the Thousand Sons as well as their back story, in particular the way they effectively damn themselves by trying to do the right thing. I also have to admit that I love converting and painting sorcerers - I've got more than enough for when we get a new codex and I can finally field whole squads of them again Same with the eldar really, I like the look of their models and the arrogant, dying race interests me

Looking for fun articles on painting, tactics and wargaming? Are you after a new regular blog to follow? Are you a bit bored with nothing better to do?

If the answer to any of the above is 'well, I guess' you could probably do worse than read my blog! Regular wargaming posts, painting and discussions

I walked into a hobby shop looked at the shelves and saw spacewolves and knew instantly they were right for me, on that day way back in 1996 i bought 1 pack of metal bloodclaws, 1 pack of greyhunters and a discounted heavy lump of lead called bjorn the fellhanded.

Although i've collected other armies they've remained my main army and always will be.

Because I wanted a relatively manpower light shooting army that weren't marines, and I hated battlesuits so Guard being far more competitive than Tau without Crisis Suits won out.

I love my Nids for the fluff, and the minis. I love DA for the fluff. I got Necrons, because that is what my son wants. He doesn't know the fluff, but loves the minis because they look like Terminators.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

I couldnt deal with my squads breaking, so I went to CSM where all my troops are fearless. (I dont use vanilla csm. I'm not looking forward to all the cult troops being elite in the new dex)

I started Blood Angels because my friend told me that I should. He said I shouldn't play Tau or DE and I followed his advice. This was around the end of fourth mind you, so no new codices.

I started Eldar because the store I went to was out of Daemon Princes and DE Warriors.

I started GK because I actually wanted to, and then I realized that everybody else hates them, no I no longer like them.

Now I'm starting Henchmen because I don't want to get a new codex, but I'm waiting until the starter set drops because I might change my mind.

Now I'm starting Warmachine as well because I want to, and also because people from the club near where I used to live also started.

Haha well yes I do see your point.

For myself I choose IG because they simply never give up, either they win or they burry the enemy in their dead. And because I love the fluff and the look of a full IMperial Guard army on the march

Blood Angels because I started in 2nd edition, I was just a kid and they were on the front of the starter set. Plus I liked how they were all great and honourable and all that.

Chaos Space Marines because in 1996 when I started Kharn the Betrayer was released. He's still my favourite character. Plus I've always loved the stories about the poor little Guardsmen getting ripped apart by Khorne Berzerkers and Daemons (I'm also into Mortal Kombat, I guess I'm a bit of a gore fiend).

Orks because they are fun. It's even fun to lose with them!

Space Wolves, only recently got into them. I didn't know they were OP, I swear. I just like the fluff. I mean, they get drunk and laid! They have beards. BEARDS!!!

Space Wolves - I've always thought Vikings were really cool, they fit my play style, and nobody in the club that I was joining played them.

Ive had every army at one point and time or another, in almost 20 years of playing probably each more than once. I currently play DE due to the redo on the model line making them a purdy army, Tau because I got a great deal and want to paint my 2nd Tau army and Necrons because a friend wasnt using them so I wanted to do stuff with them.

Dark Angels because I liked the fluff.

Salamanders because they were close in color to DA and I could switch to some competitive builds other than Deathwing/Ravenwing. I also loved the Vulkan model.

Dark Eldar because the models are awesome, and the playstyle is COMPLETELY different from Marines.

Orks and Space Marines for me, simply because that was the starter set when I came in. Convenient, as I find those two the most appealing of the armies (keeping the SM vanilla - not really a fan of all the separate codex chapters). So much so that I'm more likely to expand either/both beyond the normal game size than I am to start a third army.
