Ok I got the new rules and spent the last few hours studying them.

Short of the Long, I like them. I am confused by the random psyker powers. I play Blood Angels and as I understand I am still able to pick my 2 powers for my Librarians/Dread Libby. So who or when do you use the random charts under Psychic Disciplines?

You can choose to trade in those psychic powers the codex gives you for rolls on any chart your army has access to.
So you would then take two rolls on whichever chart you liked.

That is what has got me...... The way I read it in the 6th rule book, if powers are specifically referred to in the Codex you must take them.

It specifically says in the BA codex under the force description, that libbys have powers from the list in the codex

i believe the specific references are for characters like Mephiston who has a specific set of psychic powers. NOT the standard librarian... but I could be wrong and havent had the chance to skim the rules nearly enough

@ crusher I now tend to agree with you, that Libbys have the option to use codex psyker powers or randomly generate from the charts in 6th edition.... but I am not solid on this due to the phrasing between the 1st and second sentence within the 6th paragraph on page 418.

That phrasing is the crux of my confusion.

All armies have powers specifically referred to in their codex (at least those that use them), so if we were to adhere to the possible interpretation you are drawing then no one would get the new abilities. Clearly, this is for characters who have powers assigned to them (like Mephiston and several other character psykers).

Yes Gridge, I agree you have the correct interpretation

Check the faq's:

A Blood Angels Librarian (including Mephiston) may use the
psychic disciplines found in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook,
instead of those in Codex: Blood Angels. If he does so, generate
two new powers from the Biomancy, Divination, Telepathy or
Telekinesis disciplines (in any combination) before armies are
deployed.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Now I have a related question based on this statement. Can I mix and match powers from the codex and the new powers? Like I keep Wings and then get some other powers?

"Do not practice until you get it right, practice until you can not get it wrong." In other words, stop effing up.

Hello, first post here after a long time of lurking, but after reading the rules I just had to ask.
According to the BRB a Psyker needs to have LOS to the target, so a Psyker in a transport can only cast a power on himself, the transport or the squad in the transport. But what about transports with fire points (like the IG chimera) or open topped? I couldn't find anything the BRB or the FAQs.

You can either take the. Codex powers or you can generate powers from the chart equal to your mastery level So a standard Libby is one power.

Read the FAQ more closely, it answers the question. The "INSTEAD" is a clue

That was what I was thinking. It was just EVERYONE else was telling me I could mix and match and that by far confused me the most.

So reading the FAQ mephiston (who is level 3) can get 2 BRB powers? Would he keep one of his codex powers in that case? It seems odd to have a level 3 psker with 2 BRB powers.

You can mix match in the way that one libby can have the codex powers and another one can have the BRB ones

Yep, same as Tigurius who has 5 powers only gets 3

So basically GW wants you to play Fantasy instead of 40K. I for one am not cool with that. This game didn't need random powers or every unit being able to save vs magic.

1850 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1850+ 1000 and counting
