So I picked up my book today, read through it and played a game and have been thinking on the rules and I have a question about blood angels DOA lists. In the reserves section it says you cannot put more then 50% of your army in reserves and in deep strike it says you ignore that number for things that have to deep strike but the only things that I see are like drop pods or deamons and tings like that. So does this mean the blood angels DOA lists are no longer playable or at least you cant deep strike your whole force?

You can't deep strike your whole force, but I don't think this spells doom for DOA, you just really gotta get some support and good things like other jump infantry deployed in cover (safer now cause they can go in and out and get their armour save even if they fail! Woot!) - some Devs, or preds, I imagine devastators will be helpful in particular though. But yeah, I'd still easily consider DOA to be very viable, what with reserve rolls being very reasonable and them rerolling them even if they fail.

Yeah, so I mean...Vanguard Vets might become pretty damn reliable, which could possibly mean a heroic intervention deathstar, very cool, or perhaps just regular deep striking and getting an I10 extra attack on the charge.

Well, VV are almost a must-have now in each BA army. With HI, they should be able to charge a tank upon arrival. Hitting on 3+, the tank is pretty much dead. There is no more moving the tanks above 6'' (and so hitting on 6) before the DoA army arrives.

I'd say the biggest downside HI got was that you don't get to use your jump pack t make the assault move, so no reroll and no impact hits on the turn they drop. And they'll still only be I4. And the random assault range is going t make setting up multiassaults with small units a very difficult prospect.

After all, its 40k. There is no guarantee that the charge will work. The only thing to keep in mind is that the average roll on a D6 is 3.5 and for 2D6 is 7.

Multi-assaulting with small units is a bad idea anyway, double-overwatch and no bonus attack for charging? No thanks.
Multi-assaulting parking lots on the other hand, go hogwild.
You can still do a mean Hammer & Anvil BA list.
3 foot units (Devs, Tacs, Sterns), Libby, priest gives you at least 5 DOA units.

I'd probably go with Devs and Sterns, maybe lean more toward devs, and then support the DOA guys with frag/krak. But yeah... VV with HI is a very interesting anti-vehicle option, just so long as they don't scatter ( d6 at least, so that's not bad) onto an enemy unit and get delayed or worse XD
