Hello internet, I was planning some swampy jungle bases for an infinity force. Basic plan is to:

Mold some raised areas onto the base with greenstuff - these will be covered with flock.
Leave some bits of the base flat - these will be painted and gloss varnished to look like swamp water.

My questions are:

Does anyone know where to get good bright green flock/static grass (the slightly bulkier kind that sticks up a bit)?

Does anyone know where to get little bits of model reed? I've seen these used by people who glue a super-thin hole in the base and stick these stiff but flexible strands in there.

Does anyone have any experience modelling logs/dead wood? I was thinking to just take some dead broken twigs, varnish them and paint them, maybe sticking half out of the water effect or such. Is this feasible or does the wood decay/not take paint?

Cheers for any help!

Woodland Scenics is your best bet when it comes to foliage. Google them up and check their products: there's far too may to enumerate, and that's good: jungles need variety of different greens and different kinds of foliages.

There are quite a few products out there that can help produce the look you are going for. As mentioned, Woodland Scenics has as full range of ground cover that can be used to make some awesome bases.

Necrotales has some good tutorials on swamps and the like. The page hasn't been updated in years, but all the information is good.

Secret Weapon Miniatures offers a swamp/wetlands basing kit that can produce some sharp looking bases. Misterjustin (the owner) even has an awesome tutorial video on the page. Definitely worth a view.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Thank you very much to both you guys - that woodland scenics page is very useful indeed, and ScootyPuffJunior, I may well go for the secret weapon option as this is for a limited scope project.

They also sell resin Tree Stumps that are pretty nice. I picked two bags of them and there are like 16 to a bag. You can use turf and PVA glue to make moss too. It looks great.
