After a quick glance in the regrouping section of the new rulebook I do not see any restriction on regrouping except if a unit is below 25% and must roll 2 to regroup. Is the 5th ed rule preventing regrouping if an enemy unit is within 6 inches no longer applicable?

I couldn't find that 6" rule in the 6th rulebook either, so it would seem that it no longer exists.

I would agree. So you really have to get the unit to below 25% to make them fall off the board, which is a good thing.

No restriction on coherency either

It means SM will *always* regroup

A new day, a new time zone.

With the new regroup rules, I just had the sole survivor of a tac squad regroup and then advance to reclaim an objective.

Unless you tank shock them off the board

Which, of course, only helps if they started falling back from a tank shock (or something else in the Movement phase) in the first place.

But you're right, Marines will virtually always regroup now.
