So, my Dark Elves are pretty much done and after debating whether to do wood elves or high elves I decided to do high elves.

A mediocre build really. Dispel scrolls on lv4's are never a good thing. You'd be better off with Silver Wand or Book of Hoeth. If he's bunkered properly the ward shouldn't be needed unless you like throwing all your dice at a single spell and want to survive a miscast.

a complete waste of points. His cost alone would pay for an elite unit that would kill more and accomplish anything.

Arguably the best BSB build for HE is GW, Armor of Caledor, Guardian Phoenix. He shouldn't be mounted for 2 reasons: first the armor benefit is lost with AoC, second your Dragon Princes don't need him as much as spearmen and infantry will.

Sea Guard are quite pricy for what they can do. I'd recommend a single largish spearmen block(30 at most) and perhaps the rest in archers split between 2 units.

Hey look, it's the only target in your army for all magic and shooting. That is what this unit is. A smart enemy will avoid it in combat and will do everything possible to kill it with ranged attacks. Or they throw a roadblock unit at it and ignore it while they kill the only other 2 units in the army.

Can't go wrong with eagles.

A lv4 is best protected by a unit of Phoenix Guard with Banner of Sorcery. I take 24 but 20 would likely do just fine. Basically this army is all of 3 units, 2 of which are quite lackluster. A horde army will steamroll this or will tie you up all game with steadfast, which elves almost never have.

I was trying not to take stuff you see in most high elf lists, else I would have had 20 swordsmasters and 20 white lions. As for phoenix guard, I generally bunker my mages in my sea guard, which is all they are there for. I see what you mean about the dragon princes, which is now why I am toying with taking the banner of the world dragon on my BSB.

The prince is a waste of points, agreed, so I will likely drop him.

I am not too sure about taking high magic on my level 2. If I do drop shadow it will likely be for fire.

I don't like this layout at all, the ward isn't really needed unless you go crazy and 6 dice everything. I'd rather see something like Forailaths Robes and Talisman of Saphery. But thats my personal choice

The level 4 is like that as I don't want to rely on the book and I forgot about the robe/talisman.

The prince was me trying to get ld 10, but I forgot about the standard of discipline at the time.

As for the seerstaff, I rewrote the list to include a level 1 beasts with the scroll.

And yeah, the BSB had points to spend...

I take sea guard because the unit will be cheaper than the combined units of respective archers and spearmen, all for a -6" to their range

I love the dragon princes models.
