Hi All,

So i have quite a collection of WH40k novels (mostly SMs, but also Gaunts Ghosts, and the Ravenor/Eisenhorn Trilogies), but i want to get back into the WHFB fluff some more.

Could anyone recommend any of the BL novels to me? Which are good, which to stay away from, that sort of thing...?

Obviously, the Gotrek and Felix Series is high on my list, and the Malus Darkblade series has also piqued my interest at times, but i would like to hear from some of you as to what you enjoy, and where you get your inspiration from.

Thank You.

Broken Honor is fantastic. WHFB's own dirty dozen.

Wulfric is great. Everyone is out to screw with him, but bulldozes his way through every obstruction. You actually feel bad for him since he is trying to get free of his curse.

Luther Huss was fantastic read. His backround story is very interesting and there is lots of hammer smashing and he stirs up a bunch of Flagellants to crush zombies. Fanatics vs Undead ftw.

The Thranquol trilogy is a very good read if you like Skaven. Even if you don't partially care for Skaven it's a great read. The characters are all so paranoid it's funny and lots of crazy Skaven technology comes into play.

The Ulrika series is fantastic. Lots of vampire ferocity.

Brunner is awesome. WHFB own's Bobba Fett. He is such a badass and jerk, but sometimes has a few moments where he almost seems human. Then he viciously reminds you how of a badass he is.

The Red Duke is ok if you like Vampires, but there is also a lot of Brettonia in it, which is not everyone's cup of tea.

EDIT: You might notice that practically all of those books are written by C. L. Werner. I haven't read a WHFB he has written that I didn't like, yet.

Brunner as mentioned abouv, he is definitly a unpleasnet man to cross.

Felix & Gotrekare a must, but this you aøready have realised I see.

The times of legend books are awesom I think.

Then you have the books about Tyrion/Teclis and this may be suprising but I thougth they were good.

May depend on which fractions you like.
The Malekith triology is fantastic, if you like Dark Elves. Is written by the army book author, so it fits perfectly.
Guardians of the Forest is fine for Wood Elves. Defenders of Ulthuan for High Elves. Grey Seer (by Werner) for Skaven.
Sword of Justice is nice, no doubt that the second part is fine as well.

Chris Wraight wrote Luthor Huss (which is his latest). Out of the few Warhammer books I've read, I like his writing the best.

Thanks guys!

Im pretty much into all the factions in WHFB, there isnt a single one that really jumps out at me as being one i dislike, so im pretty easy when it comes to faction choices Kroothawk Malekith Trilogy eh? Guardians of the Forest is on my 'list' as it were already, as its the ONLY Wood Elf novel out there (grumble)

Looks like i may be purchasing some of C. L. Werners work then Tzeentchling! They ALL sound pretty good...

Huh, forgot there were actually Tyrion/Teclis books, as well as the Army Book fluff, thank you Trondheim.

I read a short story based on Huss (from the little book of short stories that came out with the Storm of Chaos Event MANY moons ago....), and it didnt particularly take my fancy, but i will see if i can get hold of a sample and go for their, i cant really argue with 2 recommendations now can i?

Dark blade novels are great. You really hate malus for being such a terrible guy but you sympathize with him too. Good read fr sure

Definitely Bruenor and Ulrika. The Red Duke was kind of boring, and I like Bret and Vamp stories.

Ok, then, off the back of Necroshea's advice of the Red Duke, are there any novels to avoid?

England

second both the Darkblade books and Luthor Huss

The darkblade books are an amazing read, my fave warhammer fiction out of all.

Just finished Huss and really enjoyed it.

The Vampire Genevieve is also fairly interesting if you like to get into the society of the warhammer universe!

Second the novels about Genevieve - Drachenfels is great and the Ulrika novels are good too.

In addiiton highly recomend Sandy Mitchels Deaths Messenger, Deaths City and Deaths Legacy - Grimmer and less light hearted than his Cains series and I thought excellent Warhammer fare.

I enjoyed Malus and Gotrek and Felix

Just read Valkia the Bloody by Sarah Cawkwell and thought it was excellent - good story and characters and I thought she potrayed the path ot Khornate worship very well - which is often difficult to get across.........."It matters not from whence the blood flows. So long as it flows"
