Hello everyone! This is my first post on here and I'm looking for some advice on painting my blood angels. I've seen a lot of videos and tutorials of people painting and using mephiston red as the base then shading with carroboro crimson. The models are then finished off with highlighting of evil suns scarlet and wild rider red and a final coat of bloodletter glaze. This is a process I would like to use but I was wanting to substitute mephiston red with tamiya bright red spray. I don't own a spray gun and I originally bought a few cans of this to use for painting blood angels. Do you think I will still get a good blood angels red color out of using this brighter red as a base? I had originally started painting a squad back right before the new paints came out and I used this spray instead of blood red. Overall, the spray is about the same color as blood red except it is a little shiny. Do you think doing two shades of crimson would help tone down the color to make it darker and more along the lines of mephiston red? Thanks for your thoughts and ideas!

He wasn't asking how to paint Blood Angels so much as he was asking if this particular method could replicate previous work.

To answer your question, you'll just have to paint one and see how it looks. If it doesn't give you the result you want, strip it or paint over it. There was a fellow around here that did some phenomonal Blood Angels and he primed all of his in a dark red and worked up from there.
