I have a similar friend, and the beer option was out, but it had a surprising amount of success just telling him what he was doing. Have you brought it to his attention just how long he takes? When we brought it to our friends attention, he was surprised at how long he was taking, and we came to a mutual agreement to set time limits, 10 or so mins for deployment, 10 mins for each phase (he never played a horde army, mostly low model count crimson fist lists, it woulda had to be more if he played heaps of foot troops) which was actually an improvement, and he'd regularly finish before the time was up after doing that for a while.
We are old enough to drink (thankfully!) 25 and 28.
Downside is we normally have to drive to each other, so it would only work if I drove to him.
He seems to take it as such an important life changing decision at times! If I have two options I normally just go "ummm, that one". Worst case scenario? I lose. Oh well. Its only a game. Yeah its great to win, but I would rather just enjoy it. I fielded a Boomwagon, Zzap Guns & a
SAG Mek the other day, why? Because I think they are fun and hilariously orky!
I have mentioned to him once before and he just shrugged it off. Might have to mention it again to him and say I will limit myself to the same timescale which is only fair (despite me having 3x/4x as many models on the table!)
