I know the 6th ed rulebook is only just out, and that GW's staff are probably swimming in pre-ordered books to deliver, but I can't help feeling something's a little off...

I advanced ordered my rulebook, much like many people here, and I did so on the 26th june. According to GW, this would mean I get my shiny new rulebook by the weekend ( ).
Unfortunatley, while my friends on and off the internet were beginning to chomp on some tasty new gameplay, my book didn't arrive.
To be honest, I believe there is a fair chance that GW simply was unable to deliver on time due to mass-ordering, but now on tuesday the 3rd of july, I'm feeling a little left out. ( )

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

If you see slaanesh, just look away.

This is because if you pre-order the rulebook to your address they only get shipped out the day before the release. It's always better to pre-order it to your local GW so that you can pick it up on the release date. I learnt this after the Necron codex.

On moon miranda.

Still waiting for my Gamer's edition after being initially told I wouldn't be able to get one XD

Though at least it's coming now.

My shop got their normal copies in and put them up for sale on the 28th, but a lot of direct-from-GW orders seem very delayed.

Yeah, unfortunately this is a rather recent change, it used to be that the fastest way to get anything was to pre-order it and often you'd get it on your doorstep before the release date, sometimes up to a week or more early. Alas, GW seems to be going out of their way to ensure release dates are not broken in any way, despite not really having a compelling reason to do so (not in the same way video games and movies do at least).

I preordered to my address and it shipped on Monday June 25th. I can't preorder to my local GW because it's 90 minutes away and I often work evenings and weekends.

Ok, that's odd. It could feasably still be in the shipping process with all the orders, and it's understandable that you don't want to ship to your GW if you have to travel for an hour and a half just to get there.

At least it's good to know we're not alone...
But this is pretty annoying. At this rate, people who buy off the shelf will have the book before half of us who bothered to preorder...

It's possible. I just checked my credit card statement online and GW charged my card on June 27th, two days after it shipped. Adding to the annoyance, a UPS truck drove by my house this morning and didn't stop.

I know the feeling, it's like when you see the postman coming with a delivery that you've been looking forward to and the deliver in question isn't part of the mail.

Worst part is, I have to stay at home to wait for the book to be delivered, otherwise it just gets left on my doorstep where anyone could pick it up...
It's probably just as well that I've just finished yr 11 and am now on a long summer holiday before 6th form...

I finally got my copy. As it seems, if you ordered from the German GW page, they still shipped the books from the UK, and mine got held up by customs because they printed "reduced scale models" on a package obviously containing a book

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.

I pre-orderd on the 22nd - For what's it's worth I ordered the Gamer's Edition too - and when it was still sat on the system on order processing I got concerned and dropped them an email.

Turns out I get a reply from them with "We’re sorry. Something went wrong with your order…" as the title.
(We ran out in plain English?? )

They've refunds my £75, send me a copy of the codex, and some red Munitorum Dice, and a £75 voucher to spend.

The best advice I've had is to wait for the boxed set to come up.. ;D

I'm now sat here with my Chaos Codex and the New BRB working out what I need to know...and smiling that I can finally legally field my Chaos Marines with Chaos Deamons or some Traitor Guard!

I too ordered the rulebook early under the impression that it would be sent out and be faster than me ordering it to the closest gaming store two hours away from me.

I recieved a tracking number to follow my package and imagine my suprise when I learned that its estimated delivery is July 5th.

Pre-ordered mine the moment they went up, and it supposedly shipped on the 26th; however, I've yet to receive mine as well.

I'm wondering if the storms on the East Coast had anything to do with it? Maryland and Northern Virginia were particularly hard hit, with some areas (still) without power.

Edit: I sent them an email about it, and they sent me a tracking number back... but its like, a bogus number. I called FedEx about that number, and they didn't even recognize it as one of their ordinary tracking numbers. No information populates about the tracking number through the link GW provided on the email containing it, or on FedEx's site.

I'm in the same boat. Mine shipped on the 26th supposedly...still not here. Very irritated about it. I've ordered quite a bit from GW in the past and shipments have never taken this long to arrive. With the holiday tomorrow I'll be lucky if it shows up on Thursday.

I guess for those that actually live near a GW, there weren't any issues of copping a rulebook this past weekend. I walked into my local GW here in Orlando and there were like 20 6th edition rulebooks sitting on the shelves, possibly more inside the boxes behind the cash register from what I saw.

I shot GW an email today stating that I was upset that the local GW has received copies and I haven't received mine. I also mentioned that I was never emailed a tracking number. While they haven't given me reply to my complaints, I did receive an email with a FedEx tracking number. It's supposed to be delivered by July 4th according to the tracking info.

Oh, and before anyone says "July 4th is a holiday!" I'm in Canada, it's not a holiday up here.

Personally, I just went to the local GW on the 30th and bought one. No pre-order.

I was there about 12 noon on the Saturday, and there were about 10 people in the store. 2 staff members, 4 people painting, and 4 people playing.

The first email you get saying it is shipped is a stock email that goes out when the order is processed and ready to go. However for new releases GW is supposed to hold off shipping until the day before release to ship so no one gets it till release (they ship to GW stores earlier since those stores will sit on it until release day).

However it seems GW screwed the pooch and missed shipping them out in the US on Friday the 29th. The rulebooks probably stayed at the mississippi fed ex branch all weekend and didn't even ship out till monday night. If you live near MS you probably recieved your book already. If not they were shipped to your regional fed ex depot where they will stay thanks to the national holiday. Thursday they will ship out to your local post office and if they arrive early enough the USPS will take it to you house. If the Fed Ex truck misses the the morning drop or your post office is slow to process (be grateful its not tax time or holiday season) you should get your book friday, barring freak weather or the truck breaking down.

Same thing here... but it turns out, if you wait 24 hours, you'll be able to track it. You can get a FedEx number, put it on a package, and hold it for quite awhile. Only when its in the delivery process (left the vendor and on its way to you) will the FedEx sight track it. I'd check a couple times a day, once you get it to come up, you have at most 3 days for the package to get to you, and as little as 1 day if you live in a metropolitan area near a regional sorting center for FedEx.

Yeah, I checked it again later and the information was populating properly. Amusing to see that the FedEx customer service didn't even recognize a tracking number as being, potentially, one of theirs. Shipped today out of MS, according to the tracking information... glad to see GW's email system reflects the truth... /endsarcasm. Now to hope things didn't get screwed up, and that my Gamer's Edition is actually... gamer's edition-y. Mine isn't set to arrive until next week, though...

Well, it seems that lateness is just some kind of administrative error more than anything. We'll all be glad to receive our books, and stop having to wait.

But, hey, for all the problems with pre-ordering, GW have done a pretty decent job of balancing things for once .

Things are more fluff-y, with characters challenging each other to single combat, and MC's still eating termies for breakfast!

If you see slaanesh, just look away.

best way, always...with new releases..is to go into a GW and order it. I say this because they get their preorder shipments on Wednesday before release and I BELIEVE they get the priority in terms of stock because of this.

After the GW comes LFGS and they typically get it on Thursday/Friday before release (because they tend to open things up and sell them before release date they get them a day or two later, see tournament discussion with Game Empire, where employee, on Sunday...says he's been "living" with the rulebook for 3 days...that's why GW holds off on them, so they don't break the prerelease policy too far in advance).

Then comes everybody else, gets shipped on Friday before release, arrives via regular delivery 3-5 business days later typically. That means you'll get it mid to late this week.

TBH, GW would be doing themselves a HUGE favor if they kept new releases away from FLGS for a couple of weeks after release (nothing against them, they just break the release policies and sell things at discounts..both against GW policy), would help their stores and website and their own shipping situation, which I'm sure isn't staffed for 10K+ orders in one week.
