Hi, again.

I think that it is difficult to create a competitive 500pt force, never mind it being 6th ed which no-one has really figured out exactly the meta is going to go yet. The reason being that 500pts isn't a very common points level for competitive gameplay and so a metagame hasn't developed meaning that there are no optimal competitive lists so to speak.

With Necrons I'd be tempted to go with an Overlord with a Warscythe in a CCB and then a couple of squads of Necron Warriors, possibly with either Necron Lords with Warscythes and Res Orbs or a Cryptek of whatever kind takes your fancy.

For Space Wolves, you could take a Wolf Guard Battle Leader for a cheaper HQ, but I'd probably go with a Rune Priest, Chooser of the Slain, Living Lightning and either Murderous Hurricane or JOTWW (probably the latter). Then go for a couple of Grey Hunter packs with Wolf Standards and I'd probably bring Melta Guns as well just for the inevitable person that will show up with a Land Raider, then try and squeeze one squad of 5 Long Fangs with 4 Missile Launchers into the army as well.

Hope this is useful.

I played against a 500 point CSM list recently that was very good.

DP with wings, one power
5 thousand sons, aspiring sorc
6 thousand sons, aspiring sorc

4+ invulns on the troops, DP just flies around. Reduction in cover allows the sons to AP3 everything down. When assaulted, they just hold up until the DP comes to save them.
