I am an avid fan of fluff in my games and for that reason I am looking to use allies that I can only forsee actually taking place. Does anyone have any references to the Dark Angles fighting along side other forces that they can point me to to use a point of reference? Haven't been able to find anything solid. Thanks in advance!

DA fight along side imperial factions quite often, they always fight for there own goals though and rarely take part in all the nity grity pre planning the other imperial factions do together (they do there own nity grity) they will NEVER ally with non humans, this includes Abhumans, so for all intents and purposes ignore the allies chart in the new rulebook when it comes to any non human stuff and if you take guard as allies do not take ogryns or ratlings.
hope i helped

From the Index Astartes articles:
"The Dark Angels are notoriously intolerant of non-humans and will refuse to fight alongside armies that include alien races. They are highly suspicious of outsiders and often appear unreasonably aloof and intransigent. Indeed, there have been a number of occasions where the Dark Angels have withdrawn suddenly and with no explanation from a warzone when confronted by an Imperial Inquisitor or Missionary."
It seems they also clashed with the Black Templars, and whenever they meet the Space Wolves there's a duel between one of each Chapter as the SW still haven't gotten over Jonson knocking Russ unconscious a couple millennia ago.
I think your best bet might be Imperial Guard. I suppose there'd still be some problems with the interfacing between both groups due to the DA's attitude, but still, Guard would always work.

I was thinking Imperial Guard just did not know if there was any specific references to which regiments they fought with or anything of the sort. I will be ignoring the rulebook allies section because I think half of them don't make sense so yea. Thanks for the input.

Basically (Fluff-wise) No Xenos allies. No Inquisition allies (including Sisters of Battle). Space Marine allies are ok. They have had clashes with Black Templars in the past. Humorously, during the 13th Black Crusade the DA engaged in several operations with the Space Wolves and I believe that Ragnar Blackmane has fought alongside the DA a few times (need a SW player to confirm). IG should be fine. I do not know of a case where they fought side by side, but I know during the Siege of Vraks the DA launched an assault on a spaceport to stop traitor reinforcements from attacking the DKoK rear lines (or so they told everyone else...)

Though they have a rivalry with the SW, they will work towards common goals.

The Sisters aren't the Inquisition. Then again, the issues that the Dark Angels apparently have with Ecclesiarchy officials likely extend to the Orders Militant, so the point still stands. *nods*

Yep, and didn't tell anyone in the Guard because the Chapter Master was convinced they wouldn't need any support, so they wouldn't need to inform the other armies...
It's Forgeworld fluff, but it fits to the Dark Angels' theme of isolation and aloofness - their perceived shame seems so great that it manifests itself like a paranoia, and they do not want anyone around for fear of their secrets being compromised. Also explains why they pull out as soon as anyone approaches them with questions, I suppose.
Still, it shouldn't be a problem to come up with a good reason for a bunch of Guardsmen hanging around with them. Perhaps just stress the point that this isn't a permanent thing, that they joined the Chapter just for that one battle or whatever.
It could even work with other Marines, though I'd definitively recommend against Black Templars. Also, Marines allied with Marines ... meh, I think the Guard will give you some more interesting options.

I see no reason not to use Xenos. Yes, they won't be best buds with them, but that dose not mean they will not fight to the same objective. Only Battle Brothers means they will be "friendly".
Allies of convienance means they will tolorate the presence of them whilst they fight for the same thing, Desperate Allies means that they can just about hold back attacking the other force as there is a more pressing enemy.
For example DA will not fight with Xenos, as in they will not work with them, but if a large Fallen force is being attacked by a small Ork force and the DA have a small force, but enough to beat the Fallen if they do not attack each other the DA will ignore the Orks and hope they are of help for as long as the orks do not pose a threat. IE Desperate Allies. The want to kill the Fallen will force them to "help" the orks in a way.
Don't read Allies like they are best friends working as one army, only as two forces who have decided (probably without talking) that it is in there best interest to attack a common foe, for now.

I understand the meanings of the different allies... I am just making a point to build an army that would WILLINGLY fight side by side. Of course if there is an Ork waaagh destroying a force lead by a potential member of the fallen the Dark Angels won't intervene until it is necessary but they wouldn't show up right along side the Orks because knowing Orks they would try and fight both people at the same time.
DKoK seems to be the best option plus the DKoK has some redemption goals in mind for past transgressions and since the Dark Angels are full of secrecy and trying to restore their honor it only makes sense that they two would be attempting to do so together.

In the fluff, DA could probably ally with anyone besides Xenos or Abhumans. Or Chaos, but that goes without saying. They have even allied with Space Wolves in the lore.

Fluff-wise I can't see the Black Templars allying with them any time soon, as I'd imagine much suspicion about the disappearance of the Ophidian Gulf after the DA commandeered a BT prisoner at gun point.

Yes, Ragnar Blackmane and his Wolfblade unit fought alongside a Deathwing squad on Hyades. Berek Thunderfist with the Fist of Russ also cooperated with a DA battle barge i believe, to destroy a Chaos Fleet over Hyades.
