Title says it all really.

I'm looking for a very unsubtle army for 6th edition.

Not GK, SW, BA, IG or Necron.

Nothing with a massive amount of models.

I quite like painting and building large models.

Any ideas?

By subtle I mean something that hits like a house brick to the face at point blank range.

A cave, deep in the Misty Mountains

Tau with a load of broadsides at 2000 points?

Orks but they have alot of models to paint.

Deep striking SM with thunder hammers? Maybe DA deathwing. Doesn't get much more brutal. And some vindicators.

MC nids? Though not favoured in this edtion...

I think eldar and DE are too subtle for your needs.

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Nidzilla appeals to me, Deathwing less so as the Dark Angel Codex is supposed to be after Chaos.

Is Nidzilla that bad? It looks good on paper, what with Tervigons getting better at tearing stuff apart and Dakkafex getting a new lease on life.

Tau and either Eldar don't appeal either I'm afraid.

Vraksian Renegades from Forgeworld! Sort of like renegade Imperial Guard, but you can use things like renegade enforcers, rogue psykers, et al. Plus, you'll be able to use Bombards and, if you're opponent is nice, Malcadors - two very unsubtle vehicles.

Certain MC's can be very powerful. Tervigons are still the favourite thanks to all the options they have. Flyrants and the Swarmlord also have great potential with the new flyer and psychic rules. Trygons are still OK, and will find it easier to trash tanks this edition. Fexes are probably your best option for dealing with flyers and other light vehicles thanks to the option for massed S6 fire.

well, at 2000pts you can have 4 greater daemons and 6 daemon prines and if you take allies then you can have an extra 2 princes and greater deamons.

Not going to deny it, CD appeal too, but their MC seem a bit boring and no where near as exciting or awesome.

True that CD MC have some über powers, but the models aren't as nice as the Nids.

Nidzilla can be viable against certain armies but you are just going to have to accept the fact that certain armies are going to erase you without even trying like GK and DE.

I don't think I've had this much of a problem choosing an army for 40k?

Yes, I have been indecisive in the past, but this is even worse.

I've narrowed my choices down to...

Night Lords - because I love the Night Lords Trilogy of novels and it will add a great modelling project to create 1st claw and 10th company.

Thousand Sons - more modelling potential as I could model a sorcerers coven as Havocs, I've never had an army of them and I like the current model range.

Nurgle - I like the DP, Typhus and some of the other bits. Liking the current rules too.

Tyranids - I just like the big bugs.

Still cannot decide. I'm leaning towards something chaotic, but a little unsure as to what.

Mono Khorne Daemons are actually quite a subtle army to use. I've tried them. They get gunned down quite quickly and although they have some brutal cc, it's been nerfed terribly in 6th.
