Man, I don't know about the rest of you, but 40k night just got a lot more interesting for me with 6th.

Anyone else fancy running a BA vanguard vet squad and giving everyone 2 plasma or 2 infernus pistols? Throw in a priest to mitigate blowing yourself up with plasma, and man, that's a fun unit.

Not cost effective at all, but brutal when you rock up and deliver 22 plasma shots in 12' including the priest.

Thats actually not a bad unit, it would eliminate alot of units from weight of fire alone.

22 Plasma shots vs,

T3 to 5 = 12 wounds(and .6 casualties from Gets Hot)

T6 = 9 wounds(and .6 casualties from Gets Hot)

T7 = 7 wounds(and .6 casualties from Gets Hot)

T8 = 4 wounds(and .6 casualties from Gets Hot)

What is that, like 600 points?

It's 625 points for the squad and like 100 for the priest.

Again, not optimal, but I'd like to see anyone want to charge and get overwatched by them as well lol.

on the forum. Obviously

Well, it certainly is expensive and will most likely be butchered by anything with long ranged fire power or AV13...but dammit, it sounds so cool to watch.

I'm liking the idea of gunslingers too. May try out a five man storm trooper squad, with two plasmaguns and two plasma pistols. That is a pretty nice little deep strike unit, which may be able to land in just the right place to gut a unit of all of its valuable members.

The other idea is to give all of the platoon sergeants double plasma. Very expensive but all of that precision shooting plasma sounds fun.

What's also a neat idea is a jump pack squad of guys with 2x bolt pistols to put out some withering fire at 12' that's still on the cheap.

If all nobs are characters, then all nob bikers are characters, then all nob bikers who roll a 6 with their TL dakkaguns get to assign where the wound goes. That will be half of all hits rolled.

I want you, you, you, that guy over there, and the dude who's eyes are painted crosseyed to have to make saves.

That sounds like gun slinging to me. LOL.

600 points gets you 24 sternguard. At the same distance that's 16 casualties vs MEQ(1.3 dead from Gets Hot), and 26.6 wounds on T5 and above, with no Gets Hot.
So, meh.

I'm currently debating taking an Archon with 2x Blast Pistols, a Djinn Blade and the usual survivability gubbinz.

Two strength 8 AP 2 shots is nothing to sniff at, especially with BS 7. The range isn't great, but with the fleet change and the random charge distance, I'll be dropping my assault squads off closer to their intended targets than usual anyways. If I'm 6" from the enemy or closer in my shooting phase, that just means I'm all the more likely to get into assault.

I will say though that Tyrands will be piles of mush on entry with these guys.

Then again, that was sort of the way it was before...

I'd be tempted to try it with hand flamers, actually. The sheer weight of fire if you could actually place all 22 templates would terrorize any infantry unit.

Also, no one in his right mind would ever charge them without a great deal of trepidation.

I was thinking of the blood angle vanguard vets, with infernus and plasma pistols, then put them in a drop pod for pinpoint delivery.
