So Flyer's are where it's at evidently. For pretending to ignore competitive gaming they sure can write rules directed at flogging a particular type of unit
Question: what xenos units currently have access to "skyfire" weaponry?

most of them can by purchasing terrain ... orks and necrons have skyfre units already i am sure there will be wd with new fliers for other armies soon... gotta move mroe plastic

Anyone can take a Aegis defense line with a Quad-gun for 100 points.

Dark Eldar, Necrons, and Orks have Flyers. Nids have Flying MCs.


Oddly enough, Chaos is in the worst shape as far as countering Flyers goes(if we discount allies) as they "only" have the fortifications to get for AA. Xenos are fine.

And Objectives have a 17% chance to make the controlling unit have Skyfire.

Not to mention that volume of fire can do damage. TL weapons are also good at shooting down flyers.

They have plenty of ranged Twin linked however, Reaper autocannons now have a re-purposed use for firing at air.

And we all know GW won't miss on the opprotunity to sell $50 kits so everyone will have a Flyer in time.

You can attempt to glance them to death however.

So far in our games we have only seen at most 3 fliers a side in a match, and its been rather lackluster. Most armies feature enough shooting to drag them down, even needing a 6. Not to mention the aforementioned aegis line. I can see maybe guard spamming 9 of them, however since our games have also been shying towards less (not more) points, they can field much to handle objectives after that.

Yeah, the Daemon FAQ does say if they take Daemonic Flight they become Flying Monstrous Creatures.

I am in the camp that Missile Launchers come standard with Flak missiles but GW is too incompetent to get the FAQ's right. It just makes sense. Hopefully they FAQ it or something. Which would stop flyer spam cold. And this comes from an IG player
which as the best flyer in the game.

Eldar have no effective way of dealing with flyers yet. Storm ravens are just going to me invincible unless you take a fortification every game.... and then there is a good chance it will die before the flyer even hits the board...



guess we have to wait till they WD us a new flyer, and effectively force everyone to auto-include at a least one...

Which is why missile launchers should have flakk missiles. Then fliers are not so invincible.

There is no way this is true; this is wishlisting at best, and intentional misreprsentation at worst.

The book is quite clear on it, as are the faqs. (SOME can upgrade as an option).

Plus...think about it...if missiles were all skyfire, flyers would be basically useless against any marine army (except gk).

Most of the new flyers are expensive in points for what they do...they need skyfire to be rare in order to be anywhere near worth their points.

The thing that gw was too incompetent to faq, was adjusting guard flyers and stormravens...they were balanced before (barely) but are now very amazing for the points (av12 and a flyer? woah).

The book is also clear on that you should use the book for weapons. So now multi lasers are both Ap - and Ap 6 AT THE SAME TIME (the book was quite clear on this.) Gw makes typos and mistakes. The FAQ's were extremely shoddy.

I guess we'll have to see about future updates.

Also if this is wishlisting, wouldnt I NOT want them to have Flakk missiles? I play IG. Hydras are DIRT cheap, I DON"T NEED skyfire missiles. Vendettas are DIRT CHEAP, I DON'T NEED skyfire missiles. Every army having skyfire missiles would hurt one of my favorite units.

I think most of us will remember 5th ed's armour 2 Eldar vehicles.

Loved fighting that army, sure lasguns where -1 on the chart but it was the only time lasguns where highly effective.

Also the part where they messed up the DE's weapons. I think they put the range for the strength so we had something like strength 48 ap 8 lances.

I don't know, I wasnt' actually that impressed by fliers, really. They're fast, but their mobility is really limited, which cramps down on their firepower a lot. I imagine that most fliers will spend turn 1 off the board. Then they will spend turn 2 off the board half the time. Then they will move forward 18" and shoot properly. Then they will turn 90 degrees, move 18" forward, and shoot at a less ideal target. Turn 5, they're now running off the board, or are going to run into a corner, or are going to have to turn back around in order to stay on the board.

I don't know why I'd ever bother wasting points shooting at them, when my opponent is wasting so many of their points in bringing them.

What are you talking about? The eldar nightwing intercepter is probably the best anti-flyer flyer in the game atm

And Stormravens were $50 when I bought mine

Dakkajets are something like 50USD also. And they wipe the floor with other fliers. 9 S6 TL shots a turn on BS 3? Yes please!

Work out the cost of the flyer, and bring 50% of that as anti-air hehehe..
