Comments:

This list is exactly 2000 points, there is nothing useless here and everything has synergy. The comms relay and ccs work in tandem to bring out the Vendettas faster. The CSS while devoid of special weapons is kept behind the Aegis to relay orders if need be, but more importantly to keep the astropath alive. The 4 Vet squads have an even distribution of melta and plasma to deal with most threats, while the chimera’s offer mobility and light anti horde with HHF and multilasers. The Leman russ are solid av14 pie plate throwers and the executioner is a hard hitting fire magnet that while dangerous in its own right offers a distraction for your objective holders to proceed unimpeded. The vendettas are at a manageable 5 for ease of travel on the board giving unparalleled fire power and protection for the points, while the astropath and comms relay both make sure they all have a high percentage of arriving on turn 2. All in all from the feedback this generally appears to be the most balanced list I can come up with, that does not have really glaring flaw nor av under 12.

Old list 7/27/12

Ageis Defense Line- 50

Fortress Of Redemption- 290
●Krak Storm Missiles
●x4 Heavy Bolters

The point of the list is to have a 3 layer defense (1st being the Ageis defense line, 2nd being the Tanks, 3rd being the Fortress itself, The bassic plan is to deploy the ageis defense line and then the fortress of redemption leaving space between the two to deploy the Leman Russ'. Since the Defense line in conjunction with the camo netting will give them a 3+ cover save. The veterans will be manning the fortress guns while raining down plasma and autocannon fire. The leman russ', krak storm missiles, and master of Ordnance will give me 5 large blast templates a turn (not including the colossus which will be parked behind my fortress of redemption to flush out any units in cover). By turn two when the Vendettas come in and start mopping up. Though this is all theory, as alway any advice is appreciated.

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

Oh boy... well, most people on Dakka will tell you that veterans absolutely must be mounted in Chimeras, and this is for good reason; mechanized veterans are pretty awesome. Before we really get to that though, we need to addres a far more fundamental problem: your veterans NEED to use up all 3 of their special weapon slots for them to really be worth it. A single sniper rifle each wil not amount to much. If you decide to run them in Chimeras, melta or plasma is the way to go, usually a combination of both is good. If you're dead set on using fortifications though, and there's nothing wrong with that, I would advise plasma guns for good reach and solid destructability with the STR7 AP2. If they're going to be holed up in a fortress of redemption, it would be a good idea to stick a las cannon in there as well to make them REALLY dangerous (assuming the Fortress has adequate firing points, which I'm actually not sure about).

I would also drop the Ratlings. It seems you're very fond of snipers, and if you find you can't help but have them in there, then include them but don't expect them to do too much for you. The Leman Russes are also a bit of an odd choice. I understand that it's more AV14 saturation, but if you're coming to the board with a Fortress of Redemption, I'd actually advise some good ol' Guard artillery to hide behind that massive wall of AV14. A Manticore or 2 and perhaps a Basilisk would be good to park behind your Fortress, as they do not need line of sight to open fire and it forces the opponent to come closer to your Fortress to dispatch that artillery; which is perfect for luring the enemy into range of your plasma guns and any other rapid fire wepaonry you may have.

If you can find the points I'd also give serious thought to equipping your Fortress of Redemption with some of the upgrades it can take, if you're dead set on using it. The quad-gun would be particularly useful as your list lacks anti-flyer weapons. Of course, if you don't see many flyers in your local meta, feel free to disregard this suggestion. I'm also not sure why the Skyshield is in your list. Your Vendettas can and should outflank when they first appear on the board, to avoid the dangers of the deepstrike mishap table; coming in from the sides is usually just as devastating as deepstriking and is generally a lot safer.

For you to follow any of this advice though, you have to ask yourself if you're committed to using the Fortress or not, because if you DO include it, you pretty much have to build your list around it and capitalize on its strengths. If you don't, then I'd advise starting from the ground-up in your list construction. Hope this helps.

Updated took your advice and fully upgraded the fortress and vets squads, ditched the landing pad and formulated an over all stratgy so all the units have purpose.

I like the list.
I think it could do very well. The fortress seems awesome, I have some fears if armies get into cc with it, otherwise it is hard as nails and has good guns.

First question: is this a true 2000 point list or 1999+1? If it's true 2000, your FOC is doubled and you can break out your squadrons into single units.

You'll be strapped for scoring units in objectives-heavy games. That may not be a problem since you have a lot of killing power. Just something to be aware of.

Your CCS can take four special weapons, and they're veterans. You should really put that to use.

The Astropath and Comms Array seem pretty juicy, but for my points I wouldn't sweat the reserve roll so heavily. You won't get tabled before the Vendettas show up, and then you'll have the run of the board. That's 50 points that could get you most of the way to 4 plasma guns on your CCS, or 2 plasma and a lascannon or something.

Overall, it should be a solid list. Good luck!

For double FOC I need 2 hq, Not sure what I would cut for it, or if it would be worth it to cut something.

It isn't optional at 2000 points. It'll be based on whatever event you're creating the list for. Most tournaments say to make a 1999-point list, and you're allowed to be 1 point over. If you're making it for personal use, I guess it's whatever you want.
