If a rune priest joins a squad, a psychic power that targets the squad (e.g. Malediction/Witchfire) will now be dispel on

4+ because of Runic Weapon within 24"
5+ because of Wolf Tail Talisman (unit being targeted)
Deny the Witch (4+/5+ depending on the enemy psyker's mastery level)

That's a 0.77 to 0.833 chance of stopping their psychic power?

Granted it only works if the unit is being targeted. But isn't this a little too good?

Don't forget if you give him Runic Armour.

And yes, it is absolutely ridiculous.

Hmm, true, a 5+ invul save against Runic Armour. -_-
I think SW should be fighting daemon and not Dark angel. Wounding on 2+ against Daemon is pretty handy.

Haters gonna hate.

Hell we took on the greatest sorcery chapter in the Warhammer 40k universe. Granted it was with help from the Custodes and Silent Sisterhood, but the SW know how to deal with maleficarum.

Cut the head off and the body withers?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Let's not forget that with allies and a second detachment, a Psychic hood can be added to the list of anti-psychic goodness. That, and at 2000+ points, wolves can field 8 rune priests if so desired!

@VorpalDoom: There is absolutely no need to take psychic hood in 6th ed for a Space Wolf army. Psychic hood is only a deny the witch bubble in 6th edition.

Instead of spending points getting a weak librarian from other chapters, just simply put another Rune Priest in the squad you want to protect. This has an added benefit of extending your you-shall-not-cast-power 24" Rune Weapons.
