Hey guys

Just had a quick 700 point game of 6th to see how the rules work.

My initial thought is WTF have they done!

I had 3 oppertunites to charge with my ork slugga boyz, first unit got whiped out by overwatch and the other two times I rolled 4! OK it was bad luck but still in 5th I would have been able to assault no problem at all (I was within 6").

Has this game made shooty armies uber powerful? They get two massive bonuses and assault armies get none!

Overwatch is only fired at BS1, it really shouldn't have been able to wipe out a unit of boyz.

My mate plays an eldar army so charging avengers is fun. He gets to blade storm followed by another megaload of overwatch shots. He may only need 6s but with a bucketload of dice its still 1 sided.

I wouldnt mind if assault was better when you got there but its pretty much the same.

It's not the same and it got better, especially for Orks! You don't have to take any fearless saves after a combat, which is a huge bonus. And rolling 4 (or less) on 2d6 twice is statistically unlikely (4/36*4/36 =16/1296 = 0.01234567 = 1.234567%) so you were just unlucky. And really 10 Dire Avengers should kill statistically (20*1/6*1/2=1.6) about 2 boys, which isn't that scary..

arnt there are 6 chances of 36 of getting 4 or lower

1,2
1,3
2,1
2,2
3,1

1,2 and 2,1 maybe the same outcome but there's 2 chances of getting this outcome

so 2.7% ish

On the other hand, Warlock squad would probably devastate an Ork Boys squad with Devastator

1d3 hits with Doom on the boys

That would probably equal 17-18 dead boys during overwatch

That's one thing that did come up, would doom and guide follow over as that would mess up assaulting units even more. Also if avengers blade storm can they overwatch as they technically use all there ammo shooting?

Ok thats more of a you make da call question.

My underlining point is with crap rolls assault squads are not as useful as 5th. On the plus side I can use my guardsmen for extra dakka

Guide says during next shooting phase, so it does not
Doom says until start of next Eldar turn, so it does

Bladestorm can really be abused

You can use Bladestorm during your shooting phase, then again during the enemies assault phase and you will only lose a single shooting phase
