So as i asked above im trying to do a CSM/DOC ally mix and was wondering if personak icons could be used with demonic assault? cheers

Chaos daemons greater daemons don't do that, no issue there.

Depends on the wording in the CSM book, and daemons book.

The wording in the Daemon codex says they can come down next to Chaos Icons-they are called the exact same thing in both codexes. The wording in the Daemon codex says yes, the FAQ says units must be made solely of models in terminator armor/obliterators to make use of Icons: which does not account for CSM lesser daemons in FAQ. This leads me to believe the FAQ is worded poorly, just to say no winged characters can jump into terminator squads to benefit. As such, the Daemon codex rules in favor that they can come in from Chaos Icons, so permission is granted in one codex already, with no proper denial anywhere else. This is a permissive game, and the rules have to say you can do it, not that anything unmentioned is allowed. As such, the Daemon rules say yes, so go ahead and use your icons. Point to it in the daemon codex that they are allowed. It's there. If you need help finding the page, just ask.

Sadly not, the CSM wargear specifically states what it allows to use the icons as a homer, and as the wording: only CSM codex stuff.

And the daemon codec says that it IS allowed-"doesn't scatter within 6 inches of 'icons of chaos'. Everyone in my area plays them as usable for daemons. Sorry if your area doesn't allow it.

The icons in CSM aren't icons of chaos, they are either personal icons, or icons of (insert god here).

They call them icons of chaos in a couple of the pages. I don't have the books in from of me, as I'm visiting family, so I can't give page numbers but I already looked it up once and I'll be happy to give you page numbers when I get home.

I wouldn't try any cross-codex stuff even if they are similar. They are different wargear bought from a totally different codex. Not saying you can't use them, just saying I wouldn't to avoid arguments.

So basically what we're saying here is that they can be used to summon Daemons, but that they can't be used to summon Daemons?

CSM Icons can only be used for:

Terminators
Oblits
Summoned Lesser Daemons
