									Hello, Dakka

Just wondering... I have ordered the imperial service pack for yu-jing and was wondering is the yu-jing support set is worth it, is it flexible and will it tacticly benefit the starter pack?

If you're running the Imperial Service sectorial, not worth it in the slightest - neither Zhanshi Yisheng or Gongcheng are valid choices in it. The only valid Doctor/Engineer choice in that sectorial is the ALEPH Sophotect. (And while you can take a YaoZao, I'd talk to Shae-Konnit about splitting the box and just getting one, should you want one.) However, if you're using the IS models in a regular YJ army... yes. Doctors aren't a sure thing, but it can really mess with an opponent if he has to waste orders killing that unconscious trooper so there's no way it can get up again - and in any case, they still have a Zhanshi statline and equipment, so worst case, they're just a slightly expensive Zhanshi (and you can't form link teams in General lists, so the fact they can't join one isn't a problem.) Engineers are a similar deal - aside from being basically an extra Zhanshi, they're the only solution to things like Adhesive and E/M weapons, plus great for fixing up TAGs if you've got one. We're also told that the support troops will be starting to take a bigger role in some of the missions in the forthcoming book.

The Daktari is functionally almost identical, aside from being a point lower on both CC and cost, but the higher CC is one of Yu Jing's "things".
The Clockmaker, however, comes an increased WIP of 15 (which is as high as any engineer gets, and shared only by Zoe and Sophotects) and -3 BTS (offering him a bit more protection against some special ammo types).

In general, the support packs are generally going to be a decent addition to an army. PanOceania, with their low WIP, might not do quite so well out of it when they finally get theirs, but I basically repeat what I did before - if you don't need them to be part of a link team, they can still pull their weight even if mostly only used as if they were a basic trooper.

A note on the Nomads, if he plans of running 4 Zondbot ever (there not really a need too, but fun), get the Zondbot 2 pack before the go OOP. Or he well have to get 2 support packs or hit up Shae-Konnit for them later.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.    |
