Is anyone else feeling as though the 6th Edition rules are good and solid, but a little overwhelming? I feel as though the rules are really good and have incorporated all the various other components of 40k (ie Apoc and Cities of Death etc), but I also feel as though they made the game a little over-complexed now. Between the different types of rivers, forests to something as little as giving assault weapons an AP value. Overall I enjoy them and once all the bugs are worked out I feel as though 6th Edition as the potential to be a good and long lasting venture for both GW and the individual player.

IMO I feel as though they should re-release the codices in order to compensate for all the new rules and unit types. I mean FAQ's and Errata's are good and all but it's just much more central and convenient to have one big for the general rules and one book for the specific army's rules.

I've been busy with work and school and what not but has anyone heard anything about a new Army Builder coming out? I figure they would have to rewrite a lot of code for it in lieu of all the added things such as the doubled force org charts and allies.

Also speaking of that, I'm excited to have a double force org chart and after some initial discussing with friends and reading, I feel as though a 2000 point game is going to be a smaller one now. Granted that game play is a good 3-4 hours depending but I feel as though once everything gets figured out people would be playing a 5500 point game regularly because in theory that would give you 4000 points of a primary detachment and 1500 hundred points of a secondary. I know 1500 points is a lot but I'm greedy, I would enjoy having 4000 points of BA and 1500 of IG for holding objectives and air support.

What do you guys think?

I think many of these rules add some depth to the game, which I like. As new codices get released things will make more sense as well, and the transition to a new ruleset is always accompanied by some growing paints. The rulebook itself does appear overwhelming, but after going over it a bit you'll realize much of it is fluff and painting/modeling/artwork stuff. I played my first game of it yesterday, and while I was referring to the rules frequently I enjoyed the hell out of it and I can tell most of them will become second nature to me soon.

I am looking forward to our game group's intro to 6th, but I agree there are a *lot* of rules now. I am still rusty on the concepts of some of them, like focus fire and grenades, but hopefully, I can pick them up. Some, like the scenarios, will be much easier to pick up in game play anyways, so I not too worried about them.

Ya i agree, I'm three games into it, i haven't tried phykers too much yet:( My Furioso Lib got blown up first round, guess my friends know what I can do with it, but that list is pretty cool, being able to take from the codex or the rule book for rules. I also enjoy the warlord traits. I have to admit, it's a different beast this game, it's like going from a low end volkswagen to a fully loaded model. I can't wait though for all the new codices rules and stuff. Also GW needs to get on the ball faster and more thoroughly with their epubs.

@solo focus fire it alright, I have read it and thought about using it, but imo as of now flyers are amazing, because not to many unit have skyfire. both of my stormravens survived with one structure point after a six round game.

Played my first game today, had a really good time. The random objective and secondary objectives are awesome twists. They make you think and keep the game from getting redundant.

The biggest thing for me is the new casualty wound allocation. The closest models die first. So i had my company commander in front of his squad leading from the front like a proper commander. His unit came under fire and one shot wounds, its strength 7 so instant death, i have to allocate to him, he fails invunerable save and the lookout save. I was shocked. Then the same thing started happening to all of my sergeants and special weapons guys that i keep in front usually to be in range/ look cool. So that part is really going to take time to get used to.

I really like overwatch and snapshots. I also like the new missions. Over all i like it more than 5 E so far. Also despite the book being 70$ it was totally worth it, the quality is superb.

Me and my friend had a question on how WAAGH! works with the new fleet rules. Does it totally ruin it?

Dont worry, Be happy

The new more complex rules are better than having to read about the game "being dumbed down for kid's lunch money" and "beer and pretzels" all the time. I like it. A nice change.

I totally agree. I found myself making sure my meltaguns and power weapons were not in the front line.

Anyone know if Army Builder is working on the new release?
