I see how good fliers are in their inability to get hit, their 5+ evade and all that, but zooming fliers have very little mobility - they are quite limited in that regard. Thus I have built a hybrid list which should have enough fliers to counter other armies as well as maintaining a significant ground presence.

1st List (Dropped a wraith and a whipcoil as I found I was 45 points over)
HQ
Overlord - Warscythe, Sempiternal Weave, Mindshackle Scarabs
Catacomb Command Barge - Gauss Cannon

Overlord - Warscythe, Sempiternal Weave, Mindshackle Scarabs
Catacomb Command Barge - Tesla Cannon

Royal Court #1
Cryptek - Harbinger of Destruction - Solar Pulse

Royal Court #2
Cryptek - Harbinger of Destruction - Solar Pulse

Troops
11 Warriors + Night Scythe
11 Warriors + Night Scythe

Fast Attack
5 Wraiths + 4 Whip Coils

Heavy Support
Doom Scythe
Annihilation Barge

2nd List

HQ
Overlord - Warscythe, Mindshackle Scarabs
Catacomb Command Barge - Gauss Cannon

Overlord - Warscythe, Mindshackle Scarabs
Catacomb Command Barge - Tesla Cannon

Royal Court #1
Cryptek - Harbinger of Storm
Cryptek - Harbinger of Destruction

Royal Court #2
Cryptek - Harbinger of Storm
Cryptek - Harbinger of Destruction

Troops
10 Warriors
10 Warriors
12 Warriors + Night Scythe

Fast Attack
5 Wraiths + 4 Whip Coils

Heavy Support
Doom Scythe
Annihilation Barge

Crypteks with the lance will join warriors on foot, whilst those with the voltaic staff will join those in the night sycythe!

Comments are greatly appreciated!

my bro likes to bring two solar pulses in lists 1500 plus. I hate it! ;-b I would if I were playing necrons though. Gives you a ton of advantage being able to cause night fighting when you need to to protect your army from a heavy shooty list and to get rid of night fighting during your turn so you can use your full range w/o giving greater saves to opponent.

Yeah that's what I was thinking - It just allows me to control the game! Are there any comments on the list it self?

necron flyers are powerful especialy because you can move them 24" let the necron warrior get out with their full CT. if I were you I would get more warriors just because they can so a superficial hit on a 6 and therefore destroy any vehicle!

So if I want more warriors - where would I free up the points to fit in some extra ones?

Do you think 2 fliers are enough in a small-ish game like 1500 pts? if so Drop one of the night scyths and 2 warriors from each existing squad to make room for another squad warriors. Or if you wanted a squad of immortal. Hope this helps some!

I really like this list.

To save points:
Drop SW and MMS on both lords. keep them inside sweeping.
Drop wraiths down to 5 and take 1 or 2 whip coils
Why not drop warriors to 9, and stick them in a ghost ark? or bolster them to at least 15 making the most use out of the scythes.
squeeze in another A.barge? cheap and effective.

But overall, good job on the lists, my tweaks are personal preference really.

With the barges giving the rider +1 to their armour you dont need the SW on them.

With Warriors being so good vs armour you also dont need to put them all in flyers either, they are pretty survivable and have enough range to make footslogging a decent option now as well.

make both warriors sqauds 10 man units, drop a scythe and through a third warrior unit in on foot.

That gives you a brick of 2x10 warriros to keep your home objective or march across the board, and 1 in a Scythe that can hit your opponents deployment zone, accurately, in Turn 2 and pop a tank/vehicle of your choice.

You could also drop one of the CCBs and put a Destroyer lord with the Wraiths (thereby giving them all re-rolls to hit)

If the Crypteks are joining the Warrior squads then they are in reserve. Which means no solar pulse for you until they arrive.

They have to be on the battlefield to pulse so you shoudn't attach them to the Warriors if you want to cause night fighting turn 1.

I assumed the wording on the chariot increasing the saving throw by 1+ could be debated to passing a 3+ armour save on a 2+ and thus it could still be negated by AP3 weaponry - Due to popular opinion I will say that this is not what was intended by GW and will play it the way you are all suggesting and thus taking off the SW off of the overlords.

I am keen to keep MSS on the overlords because they count as being in base to base when the chariot is assaulted and hence can use it then... but I assume the whole point of the CCB is to keep them inside making sweep attacks and thus I should drop them?

I assumed that the wording in the codex did not explicitly state that the cryptek must be on the board to use the solar pulse. Do you have any clarification for that?

Given how I haven't played a game of 40k in 5th or in 6th with Necrons it is all a bit overwhelming and this was my first competitive army list I thought of and those were also ideas that I was thinking about, the destroyer lord with the wraiths for example.

From the general consensus this seems to be a rather solid list, albeit with a few tweaks needed here and there. I will post up an edited version tomorrow when I have more chance to think about it!

Thank you again for all the responses so far and any further comments will still be appreciated.

I liked your original list. The only thing that I would do is drop the Annialation Barge and the Wraiths (360pts) and pick up 3 units of 3 destroyers (360pts)

Go to youtube under General Chaos 40k and watch the Necrons vs Space Wolves. I was the Space Wolves and I refuse to play againt the Destroyer Wing again!

Mindshackle Scarabs are amazingly good value and are used in every assault the lord gets into. Especially if you happen to charge the BargeLord into an MC -random;ly select one model from a choice of one......oh.

As you see, I've kept the MSS on the overlords because against elite units I can't see anything better to take out ICs or MCs. I've changed the crypteks and added a few whilst also adding a squad of warriors on foot and removing a night scythe.. torn between which list to use now.
