Hello,

Firstly I do not own the new edition of the 40k rulebook, I'm currently saving for it, however I would like to get an army list written for some Dark Eldar beforehand so:

Have I got this right? With the new edition poisioned weapons havn't changed a great deal. They still wound on the bracketed number, however if your Str is equal to or higher then your opponents toughness you can ignore the bracketed number, using your <unitnamehere> Str value instead, rolling on the table normally but gain a re-roll to wound?

Now I don't know if your allowed to answer this next bit but: With using a ranged weapon (Str value X) Does it always wound on its bracketed number (eg (2+))?

Mainly found in the LOTR section.....

If your strength (or that of your shooting weapon, should it have one) would be better for you than using your fixed number, you now get to use the better number & re-roll failures. So yes, poison got a bit better.

And since you are pointing at the Dark Eldar, their Splinter Weapons doesn't have a strenght stat so it won't be an issue anyway.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

DE have wracks that use nothing but poisoned cc weapons, along with a few of the cc weapon upgrade options, especially for Haemonculi. They would have poison weapons with a S value in cc. It's also quite easy to give wracks 2 pain tokens at the start of the game, giving them furious charge as well, bumping their S and thus, now making it easier for wracks to wound and then re-roll those wounds. Now that fleet has been nerfed to not allow assaulting after running, wracks have essentially the same assault range as wyches, making them a much more viable option than previously since they start the game w/ fnp and will actually kill more in cc.
