So i basically have leman russ tanks supporting my sit and shoot gunline guard and i wanted to include blood angels as allies. I want to get some blood angels that will deepstrike against my apponent and throw him off under the fire power and close up units, what would be the best units to take for hq and troops and whatever else would be good for the blood angels?

Get a librarian with the new fun spells, add a furioso Lib in a pod and then obviously assault squads with two meltas in each squad

DC is best fielded with some kind of transport, LR or SR works pretty well. Both adds more fire power to your list. Their jump packs cost too much.
Simple assault squads with Librarian and Sanguinary priest works fine too.

Dante 10 assault marines with 2 meltas a priest and that should be a good deep striking unit, i say dante because his unit that he joins dose not scatter 1 inch, he has hit and run the priest gives the unit FNP, and the preist can have a combi melta, you glace a land raider 4 times its gone as dante has a melta pistol, and the 10 assult marines give dante extra wounds to soak up when you get shoot at and then when it comes to your turn again he is all good ready for the killing.

You could take a vanguard squad and DOA them in and assault on the turn you drop. So you get to reroll your assault distance and you only scatter 1d6 so you will almost always get the assault.

Dante, Assault Squad, and Vanguard Vets. That should be a good in their face detachment. Dante goes with the Assault squad with 2 meltas, and the the VV can assault the turn they deep strike. Load the VV with a couple of PW's/PF's and a SS or two to deflect any lucky low AP overwatch shots. What Point limit are you playing at and how many points do you want to sink into the BA's?

Well imperial guard has been my main and only force since ive Played but i always liked the theme of spacemarines helping out on the field and blood angels get my attention the most. I usually play around 2000 points and most of my guard army is tanks but i really want to try some things out with. Im willing to change my guard up however it makes the bloodangels fun and awesome and atleast worth it. But i had wanted to post on this sight because when i got into the imperial guard i bought what was cool and not what was good and around the gunline theme so i had to buy more and i wanted to make sure i got something that would require to much change. As why i asked about the death company cuz i thought they were cool but wasnt sure if they were good and what about a furioso dred, any good with new rules?

Furiso dred is awesome with Melta bombs at int 1 as long as you take blood tallons, but that makes it hard for them to kill armor, you can take magna grapels and fix that though. Death company with relentless and the new rage rules rock, it is now a great idea to take half of a 10 man squad with bolters you still get 4 attacks on the charge and rappid fire. For 505 points you can get 10 DC and a reclusiarch with a jump pack. Thats 50 attacks and reroll misses and hits on the charge. with 25 shooting attacks before the charge. 11 int phase 10 attacks at the start of the assault phase.

5 dc with assorted weapons with a chaplain/reclusiarch for reroll to hit reroll to wound. The squad is small enough to sit behind your tanks and provides counter assault power or a spearhead attack force. No priest require and would be about 350-400 points with jump packs and special weapons.
I run astorath with 5 dc and a dc dread. I induct ig for long range firepower. Astorath challenges and the dc kill off the rest of the squad. The dc dread kills off hordes. The ig demech the enemy and destroy armor.

So im basically stuck with getting dante and some assault squads or even grim and trying out the death company units. What would generally be good loadouts for death company units. I do like the idea of the dreadnaught though.

There is no need for Astorath unless you really want him, you can run a chaplin with termi armor or jump pack depending on how you run the DC. I usually run them with 1-2 power weapon, and 1-2 power fist depend on the size.

chaplins arent bad but now there weapon is ap 4. I guess it would be best to just explore different units Automatically Appended Next Post: I just need to decide on a hq unite that isnt bad for jump units, and the chaplains and elite unit right?

BA have both HQ Reclusiarch and Elite Chaplain. Dont be too overly concern about his weapon, he is a good unit buffer even if he doesnt kill anyone.
overall, Librarian is the most versatile due to his psychic powers.

5 Death Company with Bolters (relentless and rage make this a great loadout for versatility) in a Rhino or footslogging.
Then take a Death Company Dread with Blood Talons in a Drop Pod.
For HQ...heck, why not take Mephiston?

death copany and chaplin are great CC guys but there are also just cheep 190 point assault squads with eather no jump packs and a drop pod free or just deap strike with decent of angels also you can bring a Storm raven and what ever else (vets, DC or just strait Tac squads) as for the hq everything from a Capitan with power weapon or even termie armor (dont know how many points you are throwing at it) or a cheep reclusiarch to support the close combat boys and remember BA drop pods are 35 points and almost everything can take them so a 10 man tac drop pod a round of dakka and just throw them into combat (i know theres better things for CC but basic marines arnt that bad at it and they can double over as something els) but personal list for it HQ Reclusiarch (155) Jump pack Troop Assault marines x10 (195) Sgt melta bomb Sanguinary priestx2 (150) jump packs x2 500 Points reason for 2 priests if you want to tac squad out the assault squads you still get FNP for all of them if niot you can take one out and have 75 points to play with

I feel dante is too expensive. Whereas a librarian would be really useful for your army.
Try honour guard, they come with their own priest, they can be armed with cc or shooty weapons, so they are flexible. This will give you the elite slot to bring a dread.
[priests give FNP and furious charge to BA]
Death company already have FNP, they are not scoring and are a touch expensive.
I would maybe go for scouts with camo cloaks or some assault marines instead.

To be clear, this doesn't work. They were FAQ'd (I believe, I'm away from the FAQ's atm) to count as 'using their jump packs' when they deepstrike, so no reroll for the assault. No hammer of wrath either.
Also, I'd like to put my vote in for the Death Company - while their FnP has been nerfed somewhat (although buffed in other areas), Rage and Relentless have both seen important buffs.

So im thinkig of using a reclusiarch and 5-10 death company, possibly death dred in pod or some assault marines. If i take the assault marines i would probably take a furioso in a pod for the elite. But if i take the death co and death dread maybe sanguinary guard or priests for fast attack a vanguard squad most likely. I generally run my IG hq with 4 plasma guns and plasma pistol for commander. No elites, troops my platoon command squad has 4 flamers and then i run 4 or 5 infantry squads with grenade launchers and autocannons in each. I have two squads of meltavets in chimeras. I also use a vendetta, banewolf or hellhound with melta, and then i spend the rest on russes, i tried the executioner with lascannon and plasma sponsons and it gets its points almost every game. But i usuall try to have around 4 russes. I figured i could use blood angels to stop the enemies advance so my guard can blast them even more! Comments are much appreciated!

How many points do you want to spend? And are you that stuck on jump packs? I'd consider a storm raven, with the new flyer rules it can actually survive now long enough to do it's job an still provide good firepower. Since I'm assuming your running vendettas you should be able to keep the sky clear of the crazy things that can kill them.
Death Company /w 1 fist
Death Company Dread /w Fist
Reclusiarch
Storm Raven

I dont mind spending some points on the blood angels and the only bad thing about the raven is that its $80 lol. And im trying to figure out what would be a pretty solid in your face force to slow the enemy while the guard blasts away with heavy weapons and tanks. So im slowly collecting money for them, but i would like to get an idea of what i will need. But after some adding up i may have blood angels as the main foce and have guard as the allies. So i dont mind putting a bit of points into the blood angels and i would like the raven but that will take some time.
