Black Templar Recruit Undergoing Surgeries

Hello all,
My current paint scheme for my SM chapter is black and gold. The problem is, I am not happy with the gold I have been using (the old GW gold citadel paint).
What would you guys consider is the best Gold color/ brand to use to achieve a regal, brilliant gold look? I have heard the P3 paints Rhulic gold and Solid gold are good but I have also heard that Vallejo is exceptional as well.
Any advice is welcome
Thank You,
-Dan

You need to put it on something first generally. Like a darker tin colour or a brown, just to build the transition from the black helping coverage.

The old GW one is all right, you just need a base for it. I either use the old lyanden darksun or a mix of shining gold and a dark brown. Once you have a nice coat of gold, wash it with something brownish

Vallejo liquid gold range, thinned with tamiya x-20a. Very nice.

How I usually do mine is scorched brown base, shining gold, wash with ogryn flesh, highlights with burnished gold, wash with gryphonne sepia then a final fine edge highlight of mithril silver, usually gives a brilliant depth to the finish
