I have some Zoanthropes that I want to have "floating".

At the moment I have two different types of metal rod; aluminum and brass.

I'm looking for advice on what sort of look is best for the final product. Bare aluminum? Bare brass? Or paint the rod black?

Brass and paint it black.

Sand it first and USE A METAL PRIMER.
It will give a better result (as metal primers are designed for the task).

you could also put foliage and some stones on the base to help mask it.
