If I give the Wight King Sword of Striking and put him in a unit of grave guard with the Barrows, If he is swinging on something that would normal need a 3 to hit, does he auto hit?

Technically you CAN be at 1+ to hit, but a 1 still fails. This matters when the enemy has negative hit modifiers. So if you are trying to hit a nurgle model, you'd be a 1+ to hit, -1 to hit, making you effectively a 2+ to hit.

It doesn't come up often, but when it does it matters.
