As I really couldn't figure out where to ask this, I thought the Gen discussion was best.
So here's my question: Does anyone know what Fonts GW use for 40K rulebooks, Codices and Imperial Armour books? As I'm currently putting together a fandex of sorts, and well Image is everything
thanks in advance

The main body text is Helvetica, and it would make sense for the title text to be Helvetica (bolded) as well.
Not sure about the serif fonts they use, however. I tend to avoid serif fonts, and I greatly dislike novelty fonts.

Which ones are the serif fonts?
I'm not a fan of anything novelty, but what GW does with their layouts imo greatly enhances the reading style as it fits perfectly.
and thanks for the info, tis greatly appreciated!!!

Serif means that they have those little points on the end of the lines. Like Times New Roman. Sans-serif means that it doesn't have them (obviously).
Examples of sans-serif fonts would be things like Helvetica, Century Gothic (the font in your sig), or Callibri.

I think main body text is calibri; you just need to get the size right for it to look right. I use main body 10.5 and 14 bold. For page titles I use Caslon Antique.

Currently attempting to put together a homebrew non-canon Space Marine chapter. If I can be bothered to getting around to painting the models and putting the things together of course... |

If you're making a dex at least organize it better than GW. There dexes are such a horrible mish-mash of organization. For example the tyranid dex. The unit entries are all over the place - no rhyme or reason. If they had been alphabetical or by FOC or something. You have things like the lictor and deathleaper pages apart yet they are similar and rules for deathleaper tell you to look at the lictor page. Why wouldn't these at least be side by side so you could ref them quickly.
And the photos should be right after the fluff and out of the way of the rules you use in games so when you need to flip back and forth these are not in the middle - as they are. The quality of the product is something I'd expect from a kid (apologies to kids that clearly would make a better organized product then GW).

Yeah its why i like FW publications... you pay for what you get with their books... hard to believe you pay have the price of a FW IA book for a dex and they are gak in comparison....

Hey, I learned something from this! Thanks. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ventus wrote:If you're making a dex at least organize it better than GW.
What he said. I think that the Space Wolf Codex is very well organized. Even if some people don't like the content, I would use this as a good example of how to lay out a codex.

I do what I can. I'm basing the layout from the Imperial Guard Codex, but this army has a lot of rules... and a lot of psychic powers as well. I think I'm just going to put those in their own sections. It would make it so much easier for anyone reading it.
Now that I think about it, I should make another topic if I'm going to end up going on about my own Army idea.

It's definitely Helvetica.

After trying it in both, Helvetica is definitely it. Calibri bunches words together and makes reading and printing unreadable.
