I noticed the Fighta Ace Upgrade was not updated in the Ork FAQ.
Doesn't it seem like it should of been updated too include flyers?
As it stands when you use the skyfire rule with the dakka jet you are only hitting other flyers at BS2 unless I missed something.

Okay, when you have skyfire rule or able to shoot a flyer at regular BS, fights ace makes you BS 3 for the perposes of shooting at jetbikes, vehicles with skimmer type or fliers.

Ah, my bad. But since it's not specified in the rules, it's B2 when shooting other fliers.

This is the way it is now, its interesting that the worst flyers in the game got nerfed right out of the gates.

Not really, it's an Ork fighta and it pours out tons of shots. Against everything else (if its upgraded with fighta ace), it's shooting at BS 3.

It might be an oversight. Since we have lots of those in the first round of the faqs.

Yes it should be, as that was the intention of the rule from the onset.

For like 100 points you get 9 TL S7 shots that can be resolved against other flyers, or at higher BS for a long list of other targets? It might be the worst flyer, but that doesn't make it bad by any means.

S6 shots
For killing other fliers its pretty good - you are more likely to glance it out the sky than with other, higher strength but lower volume fire where a bad roll on the penetration chart means the flier is still alive.

Oh, S6 shots actually makes it a lot worse in my eyes. Never mind.

I don't think I said it was bad, just that it was the worst flyer, but for the points cost its not worth taking.

For the points, to give you some skyfire at BS2 *and* TL (making it rouhgly BS3, with a far more constrained curve so more likely to get the expected result) *and* the underused slot it lives in, it is definitely worth taking.

I fail to see how an average of 7 pinning S6 hits against most targets (five against other targets) is bad at 120 points.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

I haven't lost a single plane of three in games before they were 6+ to hit, and it's not like they didn't get shot.
Shooting three jets out the sky takes massive amounts of firepower - a lot more than the planes cost. Not to mention that fliers don't come in before turn 2, meaning that a lot of enemy shooting should have orks in their face.
