I have a 6 man lf squad with logan, a rp and wg termie.in it. They are behind an aegis def line.

I take 6 wounds from a leman russ. Logan is the closest model.

Do I roll Logans los roll first, or his armor saves first and then los rolls?

Thanks!

Roll Look out sir and then roll the save on the model you put it on.

Ahh. I played that wrong. I thought you could roll los for failed saves...

There are two orders in which this can play out, and it comes down to whether there are mixed armour saves or not.

SIMILAR ARMOUR SAVES
1) Roll to hit
2) Roll to wound
3) Roll saves
4) Roll for Look out, sir!

MIXED ARMOUR SAVES
1) Roll to hit
2) Roll to wound
3) Roll for Look out, sir!
4) Roll saves

This is thanks to the normal "mixed saves" rules on page 15, you have to determine what model's hit before the save where it matters. There are two important things to note. One, you never get to take two saves, if you already took a save and passed Look out, sir! then the freshly wounded model doesn't get another. Two, the orders above follow regardless of mixed Toughness as on page 16, Look out, sir! only states that you can attempt the roll on wounds, not hits.

Do this for each group of wounds in the wound pool

All saves the same: Roll all saves, Allocate Unsaved Wound, LOS or not, roll FnP (If all models have the same FnP, you can roll all FnP when you roll the saves)

Mixed saves: Allocate Wound, LOS or not, roll saves, roll FnP...

The key is that LOS triggers immediately on the *allocation*.

So *no* taking a save and then LOS

I have read the rules time and time again, and this is really making me mad. The LOS rule states a wound, or UNSAVED wound, and LOS can be taken. The mixed states you allocate a wound, role a save, if it has 1, and remove the model if it has 0 wounds. It is the or unsaved wound that makes it question the LOS before a save, because that make no sense at all. Maybe I am reading it wrong, but I don't think I am.

Rule is not stating that you can take LOS when model suffers Wound (or unsaved Wound) .
It states: "When a Wound(or unsaved Wound) is allocated..."

This is what you're missing, coredump made good summary how to work.

It's funny, I've seen this question 1000 times. Everyone seems to realize how great it would be if they could take saves on their awesome character and allocate the fails to the grunts. That would be similar to a character in termie armor upgrading the whole squad to termie armor for free.

Besides the fairly clear rules, a little fluffy logic should make it clear the grunt is taking the shot for the charcter, not jumping inside his armor and catching the bullet from within.

Wasn't that in the second Matrix movie?

Agent rolls to hit. Hits Trinity. Rolls to wound. Wounds Trinity. Trinity rolls her cover save and fails. Neo then rolls Look out Sir and pulls the wounds out of Trinity.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Also if you think it through the mixed save rules are the general case, and the rules for the same save just make the rolling faster, as if it doesn't matter who's armour it pings off, you can get all those out of the way first in one go.
