Question....

Zahndrek has a rule/power where you can bring in reserves on the same Turn that your opponent does..

1) Does this apply to Flyers?
2) Doesthis work with Drop Pods?

Example - necrons v Marines. Marines have 1st Turn.

Marines Turn 1 - Marines use Drop Pod Assault to bring in half their drop pods in Turn 1...blah blah, stuff happens
Necron Turn 1 - as the Drop Pod in from reserves in Turn 1, can the necrons now (using Zahnys power) bring a flyer in from Turn 1 in response?

I don't see why not. Flyers just have a stipulation that they are in reserves. Nothing beyond that.

Except of course it's really hard to figure out a single scenario where this would be actually beneficial to the Necron player. They can get re-rollable 2+ reserves for turn 2 for their alpha strike without Zandrekh and his (still) useless ability.

How can we get a 2+ rerollable reserves roll on turn 2? I have been playing my eldar since 6th, and havent had time to really review the necron codex in 6th yet.

You take Orikan the Diviner, or randomise the warlord trait that gives you re-rolls, and you take an Aegis Defence Line with a Comms Relay.

Ah Fortifications... No thanks. I appreciate the tip though!

How I would play it...
Rines get turn 1...drop pod a whole bunch of crap on your army in your deployment zone.
You: ok, Im DSing my reserved squad of wraiths +Dlord...these are landed as safely as possible (IE not going to miss the board or land on a backfield unit...throw them into difficult terrain w/e 2+save on the lord, wraiths ignore) near his heavy weapons/long ranged support.
Rines: melta your vehicles and do other drop pod stuff (kill a few infantry, twiddle their thumbs wishing FW was legal and that all their dreads were in Lucius pattern pods).
Your turn 1. You get a turn 1 assault on a ton of units that really don't want to face CC ever.

Effectively you can use his power the same as always, DS in the opponents turn, assault in yours.

The rule triggers after any enemy unit arrives from reserves, so yes drop pods count.

The unit/units you choose to bring in must enter play via deep strike so must be deep strike capable, meaning you cannot bring a blob of just 20 warriors in. All Necron fliers have the deep strike special rule in the codex and the FAQ did not take it away.

To sum up: if your opponent brings in at least one drop pod on turn one, then you may deploy as many fliers as you wish by deep striking them onto the table.

Although people still think flayed ones suck. Since they can not assault out of ANY reserves, having them deep strike close to your opponent with a D-Lord. Might be interesting. Could do the same with wraiths.

I need to get those flayed ones on the table damn it.

Also I have yet to run a game without zahndrek. His fluff is too much fun and he is really versatile and adaptive on the tabletop

You can use it to bring on Deep Striking Flayed Ones/Lychguard/Wraiths/TPs on their turn, and then assault with them on your turn...I think...

But...that does seem to be a pretty narrow window of application, even if it works that way.
