So I just built up a LS Storm and I am deciding to use it with 4 botlgun scouts and a PF scout sergeant. First turn they move up to the closest objective and take cover.1 squad of snipers with Telion gives cover to the squad. Is there a better way to ue it? What gun should I have on it..........and is the Cerberus launcher useless now?

You use LSSs to deliver a first turn PF assault on enemy vehicles. Scout move to within 12.01", move 6", disembark 6", assault 2D6

You want to give the LSS a Multi-melta. HBs arn't great when your BS4. a BS3 MM has a good chance of doing something at least.

I see no reason the Cerberus Launcher is useless. Care to elaborate?

The way I read the rules it seemed you could no longer assault out of vehicles, but I'll go re-read it now. would bolter marines be good or something like PF, 3 Pistol/Knife and a shotgun?

LSS is open topped and so has the Assault Vehicle rule.

I use one all the time, just 5 scouts with CCW and BP.

I have enough anti vehicle gak, so I always just pick a squad of infantry, zoom over, burn them up good with the HF and then mop them up with the scouts.

It works cos you can pick your target, obviously they wouldnt kick 20 genestealers asses, but every army has a squad that don't like getting assaulted, a HF, followed by 5 BP, and then 16 attacks on the charge, plus the nice cerebus launcher to help them fail their break test, and the jobs a good one.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

I don't think so. Scouts can't come within 12" of the enemy(not a huge deal) with their movement. It also happens before the game starts.

I read the rules. Unfortunately it says, " A unit that makes a scout redeployment cannot charge in the first turn."

Ahhh, so they gave it the Fantesy scout restriction. Looks like first turn assaults are dead.

I routinely run 2 of them in my army, as I play a fluffy scout based force.
The nerf on first turn charge also happened with outflanking so they got pretty bones with that, however it is not impossible to pull a good scout, or outflank procedure. Since most of the gametypes have multiple objectives, they can easily clinch a win In that respect (it did for me last game). LSS also have a Jinkk save now which causes enemies to have to put shots into it. Granted a dedicated AT unit would take it down, but the LSS load out is a very forgiving one, as there are multiple deployment options you will have by including them.

A not on the first turn assault: I thought my scouts would get newfed hard from my old playstyle, but it just makes them a little bit more shootable until you can deliver your payload. A tactics change is required, but they are not completely screwed. Also don't be afraid to place the storm in cover, even on a ruins or something. The new rules for move through cover state that units with this rule ignore dangerous terrain tests, so embarking onto a mumti level ruin was so mu h fun for me as my opponent clenched his behind a little bit when 5 shotgun scouts w/ a power fist sargeant managed to shoot out and overrun 2 half dev squads in the opponents backfield

So if you dont make use of the scout ability does that mean that you are allowed a first turn assault. ?

You are not permitted to assault on the first turn with any unit that has used Scout or Infiltrate. However, "turn" means "player turn," not "game turn." Hence, units that used Scout or Infiltrate can assault if they go second. However, since the opponent will be guaranteed a chance to react to the Scout or Infiltrate move in question, this is less impressive than it seems. Generally speaking, using Scout or Infiltrate to do "blitz assaults" is much less viable now than it was in 5th edition.

In light of this change, I don't advocate using Land Speeder Storms. The Space Marine/Blood Angel Fast Attack slot is too important to be spent on such a situational unit.

You also can't assault turn 1 if you infiltrate now. So unless there's some way to deploy normally and still be within 24" (and even then, you need a lucky charge roll), it's pretty much impossible to assault at the top of turn 1.

Well, I'd use it in concert with a Stormtalon as an outflanking combo. Together they can eventually take down two vehicles. Even if not, the enemy has to react to their outflanking appearance eventually making precautions. This would be good news for you.

Two is a but much unless you want a Scout army. But even then, I'd take one LSS, one Stormtalon, and one squadron of Scout BIkers.

Yep. No more first turn assault cheeze that I have found.

A LSS is still good for objective contesting/grabbing, however. Being able to outflank as a fast skimmer is very nice.

I dont think the first turn assault was every real "cheese". it could be mitigated by proper placement etc. Also, it was only useful in 50% of games.

Not to mention you could have, maybe, 3 units doing it if you really tried and your opponent wasn't smart with his deployment.
