Okay so ive recently aquired an Eldar army and so far im loving the look and versatility of the army.

I normally play against my friend who is a necron fanatic and well im looking to finally actually give him a run for his money

His usual list against eldar: (*excuse me screwing up te necron figure names*)

1 Imotek w/ squad of warrior to fit into a night scythe

1 squard of warriors lead by an overlord

1 doom scythe

1 doomsday ark

1 monolith

1 squad of lytch gaurd w/ power weapons and dispersion shields

1 squad of immortals (i think) with telsa weapons

1 triarch stalker

1 anihilation barge

1 squad of destroyers

somtimes he throws a c'tan in there and this is usually a 2k pt match we are finally steping up to a 2500pt game and well im always suffering when it comes to taking out his vehicles however its the night fighting that kills me for the first 2~3 turns of the game...i can never just get the right rolls for sight.

alright here are ALL of my models.

2 avatars (i know i can only run 1)

2 Farseers (one can be run as an eldrad)

8 Dire Avengers

32 Gaurdians
2 heavy platforms

5 warp spiders

7 swooping hawks

2 vyper bikes

1 fire prism

9 dark reapers

11 rangers

1 heavy support weapon

and well thats all i have. when i setup the points and a few upgrades not to crazy i am sitting on 2300pts i know i need some work to be able to take out his tanks but i could use some help

*my newb strategy*

I usually make the heavy weapon platforms for the gaurdians as bright lances and i put lances on the vypers im of course aiming to lance his armor asap but night fighting gets in the way immediatly. he usually takes out my fire prism asap (course he got lucky with imotek's special attack) so from there i need some help please dakka dakka have mercy on a newb eldar player xD

Unfortunately, Eldar are lacking an effective nightfighting counter. If the combination of nightfighting and tough vehicles is giving you trouble, send a message through the webway to our dark kin. Cliche in the new meta of 6e, but it's an effective strategy.

Warriors or Trueborn with dark lances in a venom should get the job done, maybe a Ravager. Take a cheap Archon to lead them or add close combat punch to one of your infantry units. Night Vision really helps, from what I've heard.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Your Hawks should be able to trash any vehicles he has, and night fighting was made less effective in 6th edition so that will lighten your load a bit.

Also you should look into taking some Fire Dragons in a Wave Serpent. 5 of them will pretty reliably trash any vehicle in the game.

Like Gavin Throne said, if you are willing to ally with Dark Eldar, a Razorwing could be a huge help for dog fighting with Scythes- at least until an Eldar Flyer gets released...

I think that Immotek also needs to be on the board in order to continue night fight, since the roll happens before the start of the turn, and if hes not on the table, he can't extend it. This might help keep your opponent honest and actually give you a chance to stop the lightning by killing Immo. This is a pretty contested ruling however, and many long debates have been had on the subject. So beware!

Listen to this person, not only is their advice good but they have great taste in books, too.

Alternatively you could get some help from the Tau. A Fireknife Commander with a Blacksun Filter, bare minimum Fire Warriors and then some Broadsides with Blacksun Filters would work wonders. That'll give you S10 AP1 twin-linked shooting which is ignoring Night Fighting and has 72" range. Penetrate his vehicles and you've got a 50% chance of making them explode. Sit the Fire Warriors in cover or on an objective. The commander can snipe with his high manoeuvrability and powerful weaponry.

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.
