If an Abyssal Staff (dispairtek), is fired at a unit, do you roll against majority leadership or modified highest. The guy asked because its a roll to wound not a leadership test and you use majority toughness when resolving wounds normally. I thought it was a good question but didn't mater because I had marked his libby that was hanging with the squad.

Majority. I think it's in the FAQ (or was...)

I guess majority makes sense since its not a leadership test. Makes it that much better. I have never actually fired it against an unmarked squad in probably 20+ plus games with him lol.

Why not treat it like a unit with mixed saves if there are differing leadership values for the models in the target unit and set it based on whatever the leadership is of the model a given wound is assigned to?

You'd do that if there were mixed saves.
If there's just one save you don't.

The FAQ for the Neural Shredder, which functions precisely the same way specifies to use the unit's majority Ld.

Given that you're essentially swapping T for Ld, I see no reason why you wouldn't follow all the normal rules for resolving the attack as though T=Ld. The FAQ ruling for instant death, for example, supports this concept (you use Ld instead of Toughness to determine Instant Death).

So in short: Use the unit's majority Ld value to resolve the attack.
