Primary Detachment: Space Wolves 820 pts
Logan Grimnar
Rune Priest w/ LL and Storm Caller (if needed, I would take Divination or Biomancy)
Grey Hunters x10 Flamer, Plasma, Standard, Rhino
Grey Hunters x5 Melta
Long Fangs x6 4x ML, LC

Allied Detachment: Blood Angels 595 pts
Mephiston
Priest on Bike
Assault Squad x5 Melta
Attack Bikes x3 3x MM

Fortification: 85 pts
Aegis Defense Lines with ILC

Thinking of switching the fortification for a las/plasback for the 2nd GH squad and plasmas on both assault squad and GH squad. This leaves me with less skyfire. Only protection is LL from RP. Ideas?

My main concern would be Logan. What purpose does he serve in this army?
You already have Mephiston as a CC character so I would consider dropping Logan. You have sunk over 600 points into your HQs - more than 2/5 of your total army. With the 275 points you could do alot of things.
As for the fortification, I'm not sure, having not playtested it yet. I would think it could help against a flyer or two, but if your opponent brings a flyer-heavy list you will struggle (most armies will, though).
Hope that helps

I see your point. While Logan can hold his own in combat, I view him as a support unit. Mostly it is to have a mobile fire base. Keeping the long fangs relentless is pretty dirty. If they don't need to move, I can give them tank hunters or relentless. On top of all this, his Living Legend ability to give +1 attack to all Space Wolves within 18" is a bonus.

Let's say I drop Logan, I do what with the points?

More scoring bodies. Golden throne is playing all the missions, which means you will need to hold lost of objectives. I would add for 90 points a scout squad from the BA with camo cloaks and another decked out Grey Hunter Squad. To be honest I would droop the priest on a bike too, but that is more of a personal preference.

Agreed, since they are playing all the missions, 1/3 of them I will have an extra scoring unit in those missions. I see your point on the priest, but the idea of FNP bikers is dirty!

If I consider dropping Logan, I think I will rebuild the list completely.

If i was going to a big tourny like with the new missionsi'd try to squeeze in each of the foc choices seeing as some missions make heavy a scoring unit or fast or elite(not sure about books not infront of me )

Not nearly enough troops in this army for a GT. You can only hold 3 objectives and only IF none of your troop units are destroyed.

If I were you, I would drop BOTH Logan AND Mephiston. You could get 3 kitted Grey hunter squads with Rhinos for the points you'd save.

Frankly, I would just pick one codex and go with that. Neither Blood Angels nor Space Wolves need allies.

See I would agree with you about that, but this is a 6th ed GT. Have you been to one yet?
Can you tell me for sure that I don't have enough troops?
In 1/6 of the missions, objectives don't matter. In the another 1/3, I have an extra troop choice, and both are durable units. Logan sits in front of the LF soaking up shots at them, while giving them buffs. The priest gives me T5 bikers with FNP and 2 wounds a piece, plus factoring in their junk save.

I'm not trying to say your wrong, but I think we can both agree we can expect the unexpected.

You don't have enough troops. After 3 turns, you be lucky to have one troop unit. That's not enough scoring units.

If you go to a tournament, you should bring as many troop units as possible in my opinion. Having lots of troops gives you tactical options. If you only have 3 scoring units, then in most games they will be committed to a certain action before you even put them on the table. In this way, your opponent will be able to predict what you're going to do and act accordingly.

Lets put it this way. Suppose your opponent has 6 troops and you have 3. There are 5 objectives. He can afford to send one troop to each of the objectives and still have the freedom to decide what to do with the last one. On the other hand, you have to decide which 3 objectives you want and give the other 2 to your opponent. If you decide to send your elites to these 2 objectives just to contest them, then you're taking a risk that the 3 you've planned on taking might end up contested. In this scenario, you are already forced to make decisions that have big consequences before your units are even on the board, while your opponent can relax and react to the decision you've made.

You see what I'm getting at? If you don't take enough troops, then you don't get to choose your own strategy - the mission does it for you.

As you said, this is 6th and no one has been to a GT yet. That said, based on games that myself and numerous others have played it seems that one needs lots of troops. Heck, it was true in 5th, and 6th is not that different in terms of scoring.

I would not though, call ten man 3+ troops durable in the long term.

If you are using Logan with the long fangs why not give them multi-meltas? I feel it would make them more dual purpose than the weapons they currently have.

Drop logan, hes only works with longanwing. If you want a special character then get ranger. and you need more troops.

Aegis Defense Lines with Quadgun

Revised. Dropped Logan, and added more troops and another RP. Twice as much LL to deal with flyers if needed. Plus the upgrade to Quadgun gives me way more Skyfire. While keeping my Fast Attack and Heavy Support. Ideas?

Where do you plan to put the Priests? Behind the Aegis with the 5 man hunters/fangs?

Thats the general idea. Depending on scenario, opponent and terrain my tactics may change.
