I'm still pondering if i want to buy some Hydra Flak Tanks

Just wondering with the recent rule changes for the Hydra Flak Tank is still viable against ground units even though they can only do snap shots?

Also can anyone tell me if they have played with or played against Hydra Flak Tanks since 6th edition has come out how well they play now?

I used one on a few days ago... :(

Thankfully I never got around to making the three that I planned on having...

People are suggesting you're better off spending the points on an auto cannon HWS and giving them the twin linked order when you need to shoot at flyers so you can retain viability against ground targets.

The hydra in 6th edition is kind of a hit or miss vehicle. Over the past two weeks I have played against a tyranid player and a dark eldar player. Eldar were wiped out by turn 3 (turns out venoms and ravagers do not like hydras ) Against the tyranid player my hydras lacked any decent targets so I sent them out against his Warrior and they actaully did fairly well against them, even with snap fire I was still averaging a good 3 or 4 wounds a turn (out of 12 shots).

So in other words Hydras will decimate flyers and skimmers but aren't worth taking against infantry list. However they can still do some damage just not as much as 5th edition Hydras.

Doesnt the Hydra have interceptor so it can shoot at ground units? I thought it did.
Edit
It doesnt? WHAT!?
Ok, that doesn't make sense at all. In the fluff it talks about it being effective turned on ground units...
Oh well, aegis defence lines have the same weaponry, that gun has interceptor, and shouldnt be too hard to translate already made conversions over to the aegis line.
I now have a chimera I dont need. Bugger.

The only thing that has Skyfire are the Hydra cannons not the hull heavy boter (or the heavy stubber and HK on mine) and that still gets the Auto assist rule so it still useful against bikers. Skyfire still works on all skimmers according to the BRB. So any thing on a flying base is dead.

Hmm this is hard.

I really want them but I as I field renegade militia I can't field squadrons of tanks so 1 hydra will cost me a heavy support slot.

Would one of them be worth getting? or would I need to field a few for it to be decent?

Careful you are in danger of using rational thought.
