They dropped the Typhoon update on the latest FAQ, which means it's back to heavy 1, blast, S5 AP5, twin-linked.
I would switch to Tornado pattern or drop them for something else.
We also picked up the standard "drop-pod assault" rule, so I would try to pick up a 3rd pod so you can drop 2 on the first turn.

I don't yet have the 6th ed rulebook so have only updated what I have read about so far, I have a few other ideas that I'm going to be posting a little later and see what the community thinks of them

Yeah, Typhoons.... ugh... what a pain in our sides now.. .its been a hot topic. But its true, maybe drop the Typhoons for another Dread??? Then youll have at least 2 things starting on the board. Remember, if you have no units on the table at the end of any game turn, the game ends. So when playing, I would recomend giving your dread a decent cover to make him live until your drop troops can bring the rain and fire of Dorn fron the sky and smite the enemies!! lol

I was considering double drop dreds and maybe upping the size of my blobs but like I say no dex at work so will have to have a play when I get home, is there much point taking rhino's nowdays?

So you would Drop both dreads in? What about your troops? Run the across the board? Running isnt that bad for us, depending on the game.
I wouldnt drop in the dreads, you can use them to shoot the first round or two. If your upping your blob squad to run them, get rid of the pods, and maybe take a techmarine with a full servo harness, and a SS, your 2+ ,3++ then will protect your troops when you run across the board, and get in to CC with them. I have used that combo already for the long table edge deployment, Big Guns, and only lost 3 guys running the full length of the board. Plus when we lose a guy, we just get closer to the enemy... its a thought.
and as for rhinos... IDK yet. I am trying a game this weekend with out them, and using an agies defense line. we will see how it goes.

I used an Aegis Defense Line with a Quad Gun last night, with my CSM. It was a pretty awesome 100 points, I gotta say. That will probably become a new standard in my armies.

Ah crap 50%, bloody rules change
I've got a few idea's that i'll play around with and post up, also looking to do a 1500 list in the near future for a friendly campaign that i'm interested in so will have to see how that goes but initial thoughts are that Rhino's and Typoons are going to be relegated to looking good on the gaming shelf.
I'm not sure what the tournament has in regards to the defenses and terrain pieces (I think i'll have to bring my own) but it's something to consider in the 1.5k setting Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok here is my idea

I read the rule as drop pods have to reserve. Then the squad and the pod count as a single unit, which as a single unit is forced to deploy.
Now your cheap pods come down turn 1, the rules mean turn 1 is when you want them
I would bring more tasty units in your drop pods.
Anyway new list:
I think Abhor the Witch is not worth it anymore, though I suppose now with the new powers witches are more likely to target squads more than ever.
Not really fond of BT bikes as they are expensive compared to other codices. You could bring allies at the very least. Now there is an argument about the typhoon, just bring typhoons instead and bring the French FAQ.
Then you haven't anything fun/really good in your list. Vindis with potms, typhoons, termies with 2CMLs: this are the really awesome things you have at your disposal and you really do need to use them. If you are not building a assault list, I would bring a marshall for the leadership rule.
Also the lascannon for crusaders is probably better, especially as you should be bringing CMLs and typhoons for missiles.
The razorbacks are probably needed now as TL is all you have to down flyers. Then your squads need to be out of transports to score anyway.

Typhoons are still heavy 2! In all the Black Templars FAQs except for the english one, they are written as heavy 2. So keep the land speeders.

Black Templars are the best Space Marine Chapter out of all the Space Marines. They are the most fanatical marines out there. They are on an endless, eternal crusade for the god emperor. AND they get in the face of the enemy. Thats the way to get things done.

Typhoons at the moment are not heavy 2 (TO Decision) so until they're changed in the English FAQ I won't be using them for this tourney. My team mate will be bringing plenty of AT in the form of Grey Knight SS's and the idea is that my BT will be doing most of the leg work (objective holding ect) but wanted a combat blob to mess up Ork/Nid/Conscript hordes (whittled down however)

yeah the typhoon thing is a pain it is still heavy 2 str 8 ap3 in the german and french FAQ just not the English one for some otherworldly reason, you could perhaps use the German FAQ no? it is still official GW and if you can speak german/french it would be OK wouldnt it?

The Tournwy Organizer has ruled that only English Faq's are to be used so I got to adapt and hope that GW sort it soon

Where in the WORLD are you people pulling this Heavy 1 crap about the Typhoon missiles?
The FAQ on GW website...
PAGE 27 - Cyclone Missile Launcher
Change "as a missile launcher" to "as a heavy 2 missle launcher"
It doesn't say anything about referencing the new 6th Edition Rule book. It doesn't say anything about changing the str or the ap...
And for a 2nd point of reference for the arguement..
PAGE 28 - Holy Orb of Antioch
They specically change the str/ap/type of weapon that it is. They didn't do that with the Cyclone Missiles, so why are you trying to change the rules.

I think that you're mistaking the Cyclone Missile Launcher with the Multiple Missile Launchers that are the weapon options on the Landspeeder Typhhons (Hence Typhoon)

I would say if you are going to run a bike squad, then do 3-5 bikes with 3 special weapons, ie Meltas. Then add an attack bike with a multi-melta. Yes our bikes are over priced, but no other army can take 3 special weapons. So take advantage of that.

So drop the Attack Bike Squadren, use 1 in the Bike Squad and use the left over points to sprinkle in some upgrades.... that's not a bad idea at all, thanks for that
