This has probably been answered somewhere but I cannot seem to find it. What is the deal with the wings? Are they organic or mechanical or what? I would think if they were organic then all of the blood angels would probably have some type of little wing nubs sprouting out of the backs due to the shared genetics. If anyone is able to satisfy my curiosity I would appreciate it.

They are organic. He is a mutant.

They are organic, they grew while he was lost in the warp. When he was found some people wanted to kill him for being a mutant.

does that mean that the sanguinars wings are also organic and hereditary or are they from warp exposure? I am just wondering if the BA's gene seed was affected.

There is nothing to indicate that BA have wings or wing nubs or anything like that.

The Sanquinor, for lack of a better term, is a daemon. So there is really nothing organic about it.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

But why wings? Sure he was mutated but what's the reasoning behind it? Was it just random or was it something from the emperors genes?

I really wouldn't look too much into it.

Ultimately, Rule of Cool probably wins out.

So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

I think I may have missed something here. But if the Sanguinor is "like" a daemon would he not be on the side of some good aligned warp entity that may or may not have some ties to the warp presence of the god emperor or something similar?

Also, I don't even play blood angles i was just curious as to why they had the only Primarch with wings.

While I do like that theory, it is just that, a theory. There is no hard evidence to prove that the Sanguinor is a daemon of the emperor, or a living saint, or a ghost.

See, this is the kind of crap I hate about the new Horus Heresy series.

Back in the day, when I read about a 'winged primarch' I just imagined that Sanguinius liked to use a jump-pack a lot, and after ten thousand years and a lot of miscommunication, that led to people believing he actually had wings.

And Magnus, rather than being an actual cyclops, had lost an eye in battle and chosen not to have it replaced.

And so on.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

It's probably because GW writers have been brought up in a culture where Angels have wings... And they liked the idea that some Primarchs actually embodied the very essence of their Legion's name. So ofc the Primarch of the Blood Angels must have wings!

True, so much of it is better being left in the dark. Leaves many questions unanswered, meaning its open to interpretation.

If he had wings, how did he sleep? Prone? That makes the neck hurt...A LOT. And how could he wear armor?

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'

He probably had slits in the back of his armour for his wings to fit out of. What I'm curious about is whether he could win terminator armour, as you can't just cut a few slits in a plasma generator, and whether he could fly in it (although the answer is probably no).
