Hi, I'm new to Imperial Guard and I'm looking for some help to make a good army list.

This list is using the Schools League Rules which are:

1 HQ
2 Troops
0-1 Elites
0-1 Fast Attack OR 0-1 Heavy Support

So, onto the list,

HQ
Command Squad, Vox 55pts

Chimera, Hull Heavy Flamer, Turret Multi-laser 55pts

Troops
Veteran Squad, Vox, 3 Meltas, Autocannon 110pts
Veteran Squad, Vox, 3 Meltas, Autocannon 110pts

Chimera, Hull Heavy Flamer, Turret Multi-laser 55pts
Chimera, Hull Heavy Flamer, Turret Multi-laser 55pts

Heavy Support
Leman Russ Battle Tank 150pts

The basic plan is to move forwards quickly in objective based games before exiting the Chimeras and in kill points based games, deploy outside of the vehicles for maximum shooting and blast anything that moves with the Leman Russ

What do you think about this list? Is there anything to change to make it better or something that's fundamentally wrong?

Drop all the vox casters and the autocannon teams to get some plasma guns on your CCS. Personally id go for 4 plasma, for the extra points swap the LRBT with a basilisk.

That would work but the thing is, if I used a basilisk I would want to keep it in cover, meaning that I have to fire indirectly, and the 3 foot minimum range on the small tables we play with at my club (basically two school desks pushed together to give about a metre by a metre) would mean I could only hit things right on the opposite side of the board

I've played with some of my friends armies against his Necrons and he runs a squad a lychguard meaning that he charges foward with a unit that can only really be affected by blast templates as they can deflect everything else, which was why I got the LRBT

I'm sure you have experience about this but it wouldn't really work for the way I play, insteady I could maybe get rid of the CCS's chimera and give them plasmas as they would want to use their range not drive forward, would that work?

Why in the world would you take AC on a meltasquad? Don't split role your troops. very bad.
