i was wondering if 15 or lootas are worth it for an ork army. They can either have 1-3 strength 7 hits but the low WS means they sometimes miss.
Has anyone got experiance with this squad?
thanks

In 5th ed. I always took them. I only had a squad of ten though, but if I had 15 models, I'd have taken them, they were great.
In 6th ed. from what I've gathered so far, they are a bit more vunerable due to reduced cover saves, but they can now move and snap fire which doesn't make much difference to an ork, so I'd say they were still great.
I used to use them with a SAG mek.

They're quite good in 6th ed, due to snap fire. They can now shoot on the move, at only 1 ballistic point lower than usual. if you take a good amount, they're quite good at glancing to death vehicles up to AV 13, or just sitting in cover can lay a hail of shots down on infantry or light vehicles. they're the best response the orks have to flyers, as well. overall, one of the best units in the codex with 6th ed, as you can take them in a battlewagon with meks in the squad, to have a very powerful, very resilient firebase.

Lootas are probably one of the best choices for AA because shooting snap fire is only a slight downgrade to orks.
You could take them with an Aegis Defense Line and have them go to ground if they get shot at. That way you get BS1 shooting and a 2+ cover save or BS2 and a 4+ cover.

I find the issue in 5th was they were static and their leadership was poor and they did not have a bosspole, so they would run away.
Now they can move and fire, BS1 compared to BS2 isn't much, plus you'll need to snap fire at flyers anyway.
The cover save is a big issue, you'll probably want a ADL or something to keep them alive.
In terms of running off the board there is no more Dawn of war where they had to walk on, you can set up so they get a chance to regroup, if you are ever worried to you can walk forward and shoot.
I foresee people bringing meks with kff so they bring their own cover with them, this also gives them a bosspole.
Walking lootas is definitely something new, but something awesome.
15 means they are fearless, so is a good number. It may be overkill when shooting some targets.
Their shooting is slightly worse than rifledread for the points but they are harder wearing.
Lootas are awesome, I expect most ork lists to include them from now on

Snap fire/overwatch reduces the average number of hits by your lootas by 50%. This is not insignificant.
It is, however, less significant for orks than say space marines, who see their average number of hits drop by 75%.
Ork lootas were great in 5th.
In 6th, they gain some ground as they are able to fill anti-flyer role as well as the others they enjoyed in 5th.
Cover saves being reduced hurts orks, but lootas are not more hurt than other orks.
I think lootas are still one of the best units in the ork codex. The fit in many armies quite easily, even if a full 15 is pretty expensive.

I agree lootas were and are still a great unit for orks. In the past i ran small units of 5 or 6 because the lack of access to a bosspole in the unit - i didnt want to pay for a larger unit that would be shot up and run off (once under 11 models). The small units often overlooked by opponent but still able to throw out a few useful glancing hits now and then.
Now in combination with the wound allocation rules, and some shared USR i will be trying 15 with an attached warboss in mega armour - this confers slow and purposeful to the unit and he can stand up front and soak some bullets for the rest of the squad on his 2+ armour and 3 wounds. Now the unit can move and shoot at its normal BS, harder to shoot down, has some improved ld and bosspole, and some close combat deterrant also.

Think before you say each word.

I don't like slow and purposful that much. I enjoy having overwatch on my lootas too much. They can mow down quite a lot of guys trying to charge them and I never want to charge them anyway.
